Sanwo-Olu assures of all-inclusive government if elected - ITREALMS

The All Progressive Congress (APC) Governorship candidate for 2019 election in Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has assured both indigenes and non-indigenes of his disposition to run an all-inclusive government when elected, reports ITREALMS.

Speaking to ITREALMS in Lagos, Wednesday, Sanwo-Olu said that he is putting every possible action in place to ensure that he emerges as Lagos State Governor come 2019 and carry everyone along in his administration.

Dressed in an Igbo attire, Sanwo-Olu said that beginning with his outfit, is an indication to accommodate all Lagosians both indigenes and non-indigenes.

While soliciting for the support of every, Sanwolu-Olu who was accompanied by his deputy in the gubernatorial race, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, said they intend to explore technology and data to make their administration an outstanding one.

Although he said there is no specific master plan for Lagos State, his leadership in the centre of excellence will leverage the need to interface with the people so as to know what is their most pressing needs, especially on the local feeder roads.

Born June 25, 1965, Sanwo-Olu is a Lagos politician who contested and emerged winner of the gubernatorial primaries under the All Progressives Congress against incumbent governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode in October 2018.

A graduate of the University of Lagos, Sanwo-Olu also an alumnus of the London Business School, Lagos Business School and the John F. Kennedy School of Government. Prior to his gubernatorial ambition, he was the Managing Director/CEO of Lagos State Property Development Commission (LSPDC).

He holds BSc in Surveying and an MBA from the University of Lagos; An associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) and Fellow of the Nigeria Institute of Training and Development (NITAD).

Also, Sanwo-Olu was the treasurer at former Lead Merchant Bank between 1994 and 1997 and moved to the United Bank for Africa as the head of foreign money market. He then proceeded to First Inland Bank, Plc (now First City Monument Bank) as a deputy general manager and divisional head. He was the chairman of Baywatch Group Limited and First Class Group Limited. He is a board member of the Department for International Development (DFID/DEEPEN) Fund and Audit Committee of Caverton Offshore Services Group plc.

Beginning his political career in 2003 when he was appointed a Special Adviser on Corporate Matters to the then deputy governor of Lagos State, Femi Pedro. He was later made the acting Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget until 2007, when he became the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry by then Governor, Bola Tinubu. 

Sequel to the 2007 general elections, Sanwo-Olu said he was appointed Commissioner for Establishments, Training and Pensions by Governor Babatunde Fashola and was made Managing Director/CEO of the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation (LSDPC) by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode in 2016.

Some of his notable public sector achievements include the supervision of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) privatization projects. He set up and was the Pioneer Board Chairman of Lagos Security Trust Fund. The LAGBUS System and the Control & Command Centre in Alausa were subsequently established under his direct supervision.
