Broadband penetration’ll revolutionize public service delivery – Dele-Oni

Galaxy Backbone has described the Federal Government broadband policy as revolutionary capable of being a game changer for the public sector and boost for efficient service delivery to the populace, reports ITRealms.

The South West Regional Manager, Galaxy Backbone Ltd, Mr. Temitope Dele-Oni, made this known while delivering a goodwill message at the 2015 Nigeria DigitalSENSE Forum on Internet Governance for Development (IG4D) and Nigeria IPv6 Roundtable held in Lagos recently.

For him, the expected positive impact of the policy on national development is a key driver underpinning Galaxy’s huge investments in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure in Abuja and around the country under the National Information and Communication Technology Infrastructure Project (NICTIB) which is in its second phase.

Galaxy Backbone’s NICTIB project, he said, is about the largest enterprise network scheme in the country today for the purpose of enabling e-Government.

This, he said, was designed to deliver some infrastructure systems namely, fibre optics backbone connectivity with alternate undersea cable landing point to deepen connectivity and broadband access to a significant portion of the country.

“It also includes an Abuja fibre optics network that will provide an unparalleled, resilient access at the seat of Government; a WIFI/ eLTE with focused connectivity solutions for the federal secretariats in Abuja; a state-of-the-art data centre facilities to support e-government platforms and solutions; unified communications and tele-presence,” he said, noting that the project incorporates an extensive capacity building programme and spans across13 states of the federation with backbone access.
