Aregbesola explains why Osun is passionate on education

The State of Osun has explained its passion behind the determination to improve education in the state reports ITRealms.
The Governor of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, gave this insight saying that the goal in the education sector arises from the conviction that education is the fulcrum upon which life and living rest.
Governor Aregbesola stated this while receiving a 35 year old compilation of past Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) questions and answers produced and presented to him by the leadership of the Coalition of All Progressives Supporters Group (CAPSG) at Government House, Osogbo.
ITRealms also reports that the compendium contains past questions and answers of English and Mathematics from 1980 to 2015.
Gov. Aregbesola noted that only education could guarantee the improvement and betterment of human conditions, stressing that a solid education guarantees perpetual and reliable succession and an assured future.
APC government in the state, Aregbesola said is passionate about education as there could not be improvement in the condition of the state if government fails to equip it's upcoming generation and develop them to explore nature to its extreme possibilities so that it won't be a threat to them.
He noted that in spite of the campaigns of calumny being orchestrated by certain individuals and group to discredit policies and programmes of his government, a group like the Coalition still believes and supports the government.
Aregbesola said the gesture is highly impressive and will serve as an elixir for government to continue to do the utmost within its capacity to guarantee a better future for its youths.
"We are indeed passionate about education because there cannot be any improvement in our condition if we do not equip our upcoming generations.
"We are determined to develop and equip them to be able to explore nature to the extreme possibilities so that nature will no longer be a threat to them.
"Education is life itself; it guarantees improvement and betterment of human conditions.
"Without education there is no succession. Education guarantees trustworthy and reliable succession. And no one will want destruction for his succession. This is why education occupies uppermost place in our heart," Aregbesola said. 
Earlier in his remark, the National Youth Leader of the Group, Comrade Mojeed Yaya, commended Governor Aregbesola's commitment to education in the state.
Comrade Yaya also lauded Governor Aregbesola for making education available, accessible and attractive to all children in the state, saying his giant strides in education had broken the gap between the poor and the rich.

Road expansion: Osun compensates Apostolic Church with N87.9m



The State of Osun has presented a cheque of N87.9 million to the leadership of The Apostolic Church of Nigeria for the demolition of the church premises to pave the way for a dual carriage way road expansion at Olaiya-Ita Olokan Junction in Osogbo, reports ITRealms.

Governor, State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola made thepresentation on Thursday at Osogbo, the state capital to the National President, The Apostolic Church of Nigeria, Pastor Gabriel Oladele Olutola.

The governor also said the compensation is geared towards infrastructural development by giving up a branch of the church at the heart of the state capital for road construction, noting that the church was valued at sum of N57.9 million, Aregbesola stressed that the state considered the constant renovation of the church thus resolved to add N30million to its valued cost to make N87.9 million.

He used the occasion to reiterate that his administration remains committed to its resolve to turn the state around through massive infrastructural development and financial re-engineering in the face of the present cash crunch affecting the country.‎

Emphasising on his administration determination to live up to the statutory responsibilities regardless of the current economic situation the state may be encountering.

Responding, Pastor Olutola, expressed the Church’s readiness to support the administration of Aregbesola, pointing out that the Church is a partner with the governor in his quest to turn Osun's fortune around for good, thus the agreement by the church on the separation of her branch for the project to enhance free flow of traffic at the popular Olaiya Junction.

He also expressed satisfaction over the decision of the state to compensate the church, saying Governor Aregbesola has distinguished himself as an epitome of transformation and performance.

Osun to name model high school after Soyinka



The State of Osun has concluded plans to name a 3,000 capacity model high school after Prof. Wole Soyinka in Osogbo, reports ITRealms.

The Governor, State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola made this disclosure on Wednesday while receiving an award of Excellence from the Association of Primary school Headteachers of Nigeria (AOPSHON) in Osogbo.‎

His administration's commitment, Aregbesola said is to develop education in the state, by putting forward for use a high school facility with the capacity of 3,000 students named after Prof. Wole Soyinka in Ejigbo on Monday‎

"On Monday, we are going to present our model high school, named after a worthy Nigerian and a great educationist himself, Prof Wole Soyinka. It is a school in a class of its own, that will accommodate 3,000 pupils, with full learning infrastructure," he said.

Equally, Aregbesola said that his government has come to the realisation that school environment largely determine the quality and character of students produced.
Responding, the National President, AOPHSHON, Alhaji Mahmud Lawal applauded the governor for his giant strides in education.

Lawal also described the state educational policies as one of the best in the world, stressing that governor Aregbesola has bridged the wider gap between the public and private education in the country.

Alhaji Lawal who identified with the state government on the current economic situation lauded Aregbesola for his unwavering support to quality education as he has provided a smooth template and conducive academic environment for pupils and students across the state.

He averred that in spite the current financial challenges being encountered by the present administration, the state didn't deter from all the programmes embarked upon.

The (AOPSHON) National President contented that the state government has been building its educational policies on the solid rock of academic transformation, success and development which according to him has manifested in the quality of its pupils and students.

He said the provision of viable educational sector in the state has significantly translated into what he described as vibrant basic education knowledge acquisition which according to remain the best stage of learning.

According to him "Osun State deserves a worthwhile commendation and encomium especially on its giant strides and laudable achievements in educational sector which had earned it several accolades and international recognition.

"Though our coming to Osun State was primarily to hold our annual National Seminar/Workshop and as well acknowledge the trends of general development and immense contributions of the current government in education most importantly elementary education.

"We have identified primary education as the most essential part of human life which must not be ignored by any serious government as it sets pace for subsequent knowledge acquisition and academic qualifications,” he said.

Phase 2: Osun State commences distribution of Tablets of Knowledge



The State of Osun has commenced the distribution of Tablets of Knowledge, otherwise known as Opon Imo in local parlance to students across its domain, reports ITRealms.

Leading this exercise, the Permanent Secretary, State of Osun Ministry of Education, Mr. Lawrence Oyeniran made presentations Friday to some Senior Secondary School Students across the public high schools.

ITRealms reports that the beneficiaries in this phase include students of Adventist High Schools Ede, while the Principal of the school, Mr. Anthony Ojo and teachers where at hand to witness the presentations to students.

In his remarks, Mr. Lawrence charged the students and the school to ensure good use of the tablets for their benefit and future of the state.

Responding, the principal, Mr. Ojo commended the state government for the choice of the school and promised that they will endeavor to tap into the Tablet of Knowledge, which will improve the performance of the students.

Aregbesola, Johnson lead delegates to ADA Hall of Fame’13

The Governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and Communication Technology, Mrs. Omobola Johnson will in December lead delegates for induction into Africa Digital Forum and Awards (ADA) Hall of Fame.

Confirming this to ITRealms:, the coordinator, ADA, Mr. Tayo Adewusi, told correspondent that ADA has instituted ADA Hall of Fame, which would induct Governor Rauf Aregbesola of the State of Osun and Technology Minister, among others.

He also said that several industry bigwigs including the Governor Aregbesola have confirmed attendance for the event scheduled for December 8, 2013 at the Sheraton Hotels and Towers, Ikeja, Lagos.

The guest speaker, he said will be speaking on the theme ‘’Deepening e-governance, Transparency with Broadband Access,” while Dr. Ernest Ndukwe, who is the chief host, would support him and host, Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), Executive Governor of Lagos State.

Special guest of honour, he said, is Mrs Omobola Johnson, Hon. Minister of Communication Technology, just as the keynote speakers include the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of NCC, Dr. Eugene Juwah, Prince Emeka Mba, Director-General, National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Gerald Ilukwe MD / CE, Galaxy Backbone Plc.

The event consists of the Africa Digital Forum (ADF 2013) where issues in the industry will be critically examined, solutions will be proffered, and the Africa Digital Awards Hall of Fame 2013, would celebrate outstanding individuals that have contributed immensely to the growth and leveraged on the potent power of ICT to innovate and execute different ideas.
