Jumia dispatch rider accident left 1 dead in Ikeja

A dispatch rider, otherwise known as dispatch associate within Jumia circle had an accident which left one passerby dead at Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja, reports ITRealms.

The dead person, whose name cannot be ascertained at the time of going to press, met his death on Monday morning at about 6:50am following a hit by a commercial tricycle rider, involving the dispatch rider too.

This, ITRealms also gathered, led to several people getting injured.

But Jumia Nigeria in an official response told ITRealms that they were heartbroken with the news.

“We are heartbroken to report that a number of people were injured and a passer-by lost his life when the tricycle rider hit him as a result of the accident,” our source confirmed.

Jumia Nigeria management also used the opportunity to send their thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of the deceased.


They equally assured partnering the Police in determining the exact cause of the accident as investigations continue.

Ikeja Rotary donates sanitation materials to community

The Rotary Club of Ikeja has made a donation of sanitation materials to the Ipodo Community Market, reports ITRealms.

This community development gesture, according to the President Rotarian Adeniyi Adelaja is in further demonstration of the Club’s support for, and commitment to the current Clean Lagos initiative of the State government.

Presenting the materials which included large plastic waste bins, shovels, and brooms, a Past District Governor of Rotary International [District 9110], who is also a Past President of the Club, Prince Julius Adelusi Adeluyi expressed deep satisfaction that the Club had continued to sustain the tradition of promoting healthy environment. He commended the Club members, while also urging the beneficiaries to deploy the gifts to good use as intended by the Rotary Club.

Earlier, a Past President of the Club, Rotarian Tosin Kadiri had stated that Rotary was among so many other things concerned about the environment, and was always carrying out activities to ensure and promote clean environment in order to reduce the incidences of diseases that are consequences of unhealthy or badly kept environment.

Members of the Ipodo Community Market were on hand to receive the items, and they were full of praises for the Club’s continued support. The leader of the market, Alhaja Abiodun Bintu also expressed the community’s appreciation for the Club’s unwavering commitment and support to the community.

Mr Olasupo Sode represented the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment while Honourable Mayungbe represented the Chairman of Ikeja Local Government.

Yudala's Gyming with the Stars goes to Ikeja





The innovative scheme for healthy living tagged ‘Gyming with the Stars’ by Yudala, and supported by Access Bank and Airtel Nigeria, would this Saturday go to Ikeja, the capital of centre of excellence, reports ITRealms.
 
The second edition of Gyming with the Stars, according to the Chief Executive Officer, Yudala Nigeria, Mr. Dave Ibelegbu, would feature celebrities such as renowned comedian Akpororo, superstar artistes Naeto C, Iyanya, Ms. Uru Ekeh, among others at the Police College Field, Ikeja on Saturday November 7th from 7am.

Nigeria Guild of Editors gear up for 2015 Biennial Convention

The Nigeria Guild of Editors (NGE) are gearing up for its biennial convention which leads to elections on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the Airport Hotel, Ikeja-Lagos, reports ITRealms.

A press statement made available to ITRealms by the Electoral Committee chaired by Mr. Stanley Egbochukwu includes the Chief Executive Officer, Diamond Publications, Mr. Lanre Idowu; NGE Vice President, West, Karada Ahmed in Lagos while releasing the eligibility criteria for editors seeking elective positions into the Executive and Standing Committees of the Guild.

According to the Electoral Committee there are Nine ( 9) executive offices, and 7 standing committee offices which are open to elections based on Article 11 of NGE constitution.

Also, the Executive offices that could be contested are the President, Deputy President, Vice President East, Vice President West, Vice President North, General Secretary, Assistant General Secretary, Treasurer, Social and Publicity Secretary.

Other offices include Standing Committee Members: Three West, Two East and Two North, while the
only those who have met their financial obligations can contest –Article 8.

"The Planning Committee is using the payment of dues at the ANEC at Asaba 2013 and Katsina 2014 as yardstick," the committee stated, stressing the Secretariat had already sent out messages concerning this.

NGE also explained that before someone can aspire to be the President, he or she must have served as standing committee member for 2 years – Article 11A.

Former occupants of Editorial Chairs, ITRealms gathered, could only be associate members and could contest for standing committee but not into any of the 9 executive offices as stipulated in Article 12.E.

A list of all eligible voters, ITRealms noted that tthose who are up to date in the payment of both ANEC dues will be pasted at the venue of the convention during registration on Friday, April 24, 2015.

Nomination papers, NGE said, could be collected from the Election Committee after the opening ceremony on Saturday, which must be completed with endorsement of 2 members, who are inducted not less than five years.

This, ITRealms further gathered, must be submitted to the committee at the start of the Business Session on Saturday.

Legitcomm opens for business in Lagos



World class printing company, Legitcomm, a company acclaimed to have the capacity to compete favourably with international printers has opened for business in Ikeja, Lagos, ITRealms reports.

The CEO of Legitcomm, Dr. Simony Onerah, took dignitaries and reporters round the different sections ITRealms of the company including the Graphics section from where you send your job. 

He said that one sweet thing about this section is that in the course of printing, you can actually change the size of what you are printing, say, from 10x10 to 10x2 and continue your job as if nothing happened. 

Stressing that the operation manager’s office monitor's whatever job that is being sent to the machine and could stop it so that the man on the machine cannot print until such anomaly, if any, is rectified.

The Zerox/Direct Imaging section prints all types of card, magazine, it prints and trims and it sado stitches. It has a folder and can also print front and back. 

He demonstrated the work of the Zerox and all present attested to the clarity and sharpness of the output which is comparable to foreign works. The Three Metre Media printer which prints large spree sheets like calendars is actually capable of printing three art works at the same time. It is capable of cutting while still working and you can pause it to start off later. 

He stressed that the UPS working with the machine is capable of serving the machine for 3hours further in case there is power outage, learnt ITRealms

Pastor Kolawole Oyeyemi of Chapel of Uncommon Grace had earlier prayed before the tape was cut while Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem who was the special guest of honour at the event also expressed his joy and said he is particularly impressed by the humility of Simony Onerah even as the CEO of the new company thanked all the guests for their presence. 

Other technology heavyweights that attended the occasion include Dr. Bayero Agabi, Mr. Kayode Shobajo, CEO/ Chief Technopreneur, HiiT Plc.
