APA candidate accuses Ajimobi of paralyzing Oyo tourism - ITREALMS

The Oyo State Governorship Candidate of the African Peoples Alliance (APA), Deacon Tolulope Adedoyin,  has indicted the outgoing governor of the state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi of turning the Oyo State Cultural Centre which is also the arts house of the people in the state to beer joint and sex spot, reports ITREALMS.

This was contained in a press statement issued and signed by the governorship candidate of the African Peoples Alliance Party, Deacon Tolulope Adedoyin, after the party’s brief meeting at their party secretariat in Ibadan yesterday.

According to APA governorship candidate, “A cultural center is an organization, building or complex that promotes culture and arts. Not the one that encourages selling of beers and an avenue for prostitutes to meet and market their bodies. It should be made available to arts veterans and associations like GOND, ANTP, TAMPAN, NANTAP, SNA, ANA to mention but few of them who have been denied access innumerable times for rehearsals and meetings related to arts programmes. Cultural Centre should be where arts works are sold and crafted not where prostitutes and drunkards fellowships”

Adedoyin however promised to give full attention to the following tourists’ attraction sites after he has been elected governor of the state. The sites are Ado-Awaye Suspended Lake, Ido Cenotaph, Iya-nla Hill at Tede- Atisbo LGA, Oke-Ogun National Park, Bowers Tower, Cultural Centre to mention but few.

Buhari, Ajimobi to lead delegates to NCS 27th confab - ITREALMS Online

President Mohammadu Buhari, has been confirmed to lead guests at the 27^th National Conference of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) scheduled for Ibadan, capital of Oyo State, reports ITRealms.

He would also be joined by the State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi as chief host and Minister of Communication, Mr. Adebayo Shittu and Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) Dr. Isa Pantami.

Confirming this to ITRealms, NCS president, Prof Adesola Aderounmu, said the conference is regarded as the Nigeria’s largest event for the IT Industry and profession, with the theme “Digital Inclusion: Opportunities, Challenges, and Strategies.”

Equally he said the event would gather participants from IT academia, industry and thought leaders to address challenges and highlight opportunities related to building a digital, prosperous and inclusive Nigeria that leverages on information technology to achieve sustainable development.

“NCS is preparing for the best ever conference and has assembled an impressive line-up of leading researchers, entrepreneurs, educators, industry experts, thought leaders, international scholars and subject matter experts as speakers and resource persons to share their extensive knowledge and experience on the theme and sub themes. Their experiences and expert opinions will be of immense benefit to attendees,” he said.

In addition, he said, the conference will focus on important issues related to the theme and sub themes such as: Poverty Eradication and Job Creation in the rural Economy.

Other confirmed guests include Ms Funke Opeke, Founder and CEO of MainOne, Mr. Oluwafunminiyi Ajao, Special Adviser to the Oyo State Governor on ICT, Mr. Adedayo P. S. Arogundade, Managing Director, Sidmach Technologies Nigeria Limited, and Mr. Ezekiel Oyeniyi Ajao, Executive Director, Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System Plc (NIBSS).

Also confirmed, he said, include Professor Charles Korede Ayo, former Vice Chancellor, Covenant University, Professor Patience Akpan-Obong, Faculty of Leadership and Interdisciplinary Sciences, Arizona State University, Tejumade Afonja, Intel Software Innovator.

“Specifically, topics such as Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Fintech, Financial Inclusion, eGovernment, Broadband, Disruptive Technologies, Fourth Industrial Revolution and e-Voting will be covered as they relate to the conference theme,” he said.

OYSIEC: APPS faults Ajimobi’s appointment

The Association of Progressive Political Parties (APPPS) in Oyo State has accused the executive governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi of appointing inexperienced, bias and incompetent individuals who do not have respect for the rule of law as members of Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), reports ITRealms.

This was contained in a release signed and made available by APPPS Chairman, Mr. David Akinola, Secretary, Mr. Tolu Adedoyin and PRO. Mr. Raji Babatunde after the group’s meeting on last weekend in Oyo State capital, Ibadan.

According to Akinola who is also the Oyo State Chairman of Peoples for Democratic Change (PDC) “OYSIEC are not sincere in conducting local government elections in all the 33 local government areas (LGAs) and 35 newly created  local council development areas (LCDAs) that will be constitutional, democratic, credible, free and acceptable by other political parties  and Oyo State citizens.

Also the Oyo State Chairman of the African Peoples Alliance Party (APA) who is also the state Secretary of APPPS, Mr. Tolu Adedoyin described the promise made by Mr. Jide Ajeigbe, OYSIEC Chairman during a press conference as “pathological lies.”

Mr. Raji Babatunde, the spokesperson of the association said “From the outcome of the OYSIEC meeting we attended on Wednesday, we were fully briefed that OYSIEC are not ready to conduct free, fair and credible elections.”

Till date, he said, they have not been given any election materials, stressing that they don’t know the units and wards of the newly created LCDAs.

“As I’m talking to you our association believed with fact and figures that the result of the proposed local government elections has been collated and ready to be released on the date of the election. APC are looking for participation of more parties as to perfect their rigging plans. We won’t be surprise at the end of the whole election exercise if APC clears all the seats,” he said.

Group asks Ajimobi to immortalize Adebayo Faleti

The Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) has called on the Oyo State governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi to immortalize the late Alagba Adebayo Faleti by naming

either Oyo State Council for Arts and Culture or the Oyo State Library Board after him, reports ITRealms.

The late Adebayo Faleti who wrote, produced and acted a number of movies, including Thunderbolt, Magun (2001), Afonja (1&2), 2002; Basorun Gaa (2004), and Sawo-Sogberi (2005) passed on to glory on the 23^rd of July 2017 at the age of 86.

A press statement made available to ITRealms, Wednesday by the national president of the organization, Mr. Wole Adedoyin, described Faleti as Yoruba literary sage who is regarded as a great colossus and deserved even in death more honour than he is currently being accorded through press releases from eminent personalities and organizations.

According to Adedoyin they were not surprised that the past and present crop of Oyo state political administrators are not fond of honoring their outstanding sons and daughters.

“Till today no government immortalized Baba Supo Kosemani  despite his contributions to Yoruba Language and Proverbs. Same thing with Dr. Larinde Akinleye. They are almost forgotten. No epitaphs, statues to immortalize their names by the state government and they were brilliant and outstanding sons and daughters of Oyo state” Adedoyin declared.
