As the global Internet community prepares to converge in Bali, Indonesia, for the 87th Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN87) Annual General Meeting in October 2026, Africa is set to make a significant statement through a new generation of Internet governance leaders emerging under the auspices of the African Regional At-Large Organisation (AFRALO), reports ITREALMS.

Far beyond a list of successful applicants, the selection of Africa's ICANN87 Fellows underscores AFRALO's unwavering commitment to developing technical expertise, strengthening multistakeholder participation, and ensuring that African Internet end-users are meaningfully represented in global Internet policy discussions.

The chairperson of the African Regional At-Large Organization (AFRALO), Hadia Elminiawi, has been appointed to the Nomination Committee (NomCom) of the African Network Information Centre (AFRINIC), reports ITREALMS.

According to the public statement available to ITREALMS, the six-man committee included Mrs. Hadia El Miniawi – Northern Africa, Mr. Houegnon Geoffroy Bonou – Western Africa, Mr. Albert Kamga – Central Africa, Prof. Madara Ogot – Southern Africa, Mr. Godfrey Sserwamukoko – Eastern Africa, and Mr. Yagianath Rosunee – Indian Ocean.

The city of Accra, Ghana is gearing up to host the 2023 General Assembly of the African Regional At-Large Organisation (AFRALO), reports ITREALMS.

Confirming this to ITREALMS, AFRALO chairman, Mr. Seun Ojedeji said the general assembly would be hosted in the city of Accra, capital of Ghana between July 24 and 25, 2023.
