The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has entered into strategic discussions with Trust Stamp, a NASDAQ-listed global provider of AI-powered identity services, to strengthen Nigeria’s digital trust framework, reports ITREALMS.
The partnership aims to integrate privacy-first biometric solutions into the nation’s rapidly expanding digital economy.
The meeting, led by NITDA Director General Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, focused on how "Digital Trust" serves as the primary currency of the digital age.

Inuwa emphasized that for Nigeria to achieve its goal of a $1 trillion digital economy, citizens must have absolute confidence that their data is being handled securely and ethically.

Unlike traditional systems that store actual images of faces or fingerprints, which could be stolen in data breaches; Trust Stamp converts biometric data into an irreversible, anonymized "token."
ITREALMS gathered that the original biometric data is discarded, meaning even if a database is hacked, there are no actual fingerprints or facial images to steal.
Also, the technology allows for identity verification without exposing sensitive personal information.
The system, ITREALMS also gatheted is designed to work in low-connectivity areas and on low-specification "feature" phones, ensuring that rural Nigerians are not left out of the digital transformation.
The partnership aligns with the recently launched Nigerian Digital Trustmark Initiative.
This initiative provides a visible seal of authenticity for online businesses, helping Nigerians distinguish between genuine platforms and fraudulent websites.
By collaborating with Trust Stamp, NITDA aims to provide small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with the advanced verification tools usually reserved for large multinational banks.
