The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area chapter, in Lagos State, recently held a proclamation and affirmation ceremony for new coalition partners who have joined the party, reports ITREALMS.
In his address, the Chairman of the ADC in Amuwo Odofin LGA, Hon. Clifford Uzoma Agugoesi, described the coalition as a significant step toward ensuring the party's success at all levels.
He stated that ADC has been positioned by "Providence Divine" as a leading opposition voice in Nigeria, stressing that the party has earned the name "the untainted party" due to its integrity.
Agugoesi emphasized that politics is a "game of numbers" and that ADC has been mobilizing Nigerians from all walks of life, including men, women, youths, and persons with disabilities (PWDs), to grow its membership.
He also said that the party's robust constitution, which guarantees a 35 per cent affirmation for women, youths, and PWDs.
According to Agugoesi, these mobilization efforts are yielding positive results and have even threatened the ruling party.
He warned that "intelligence reports" have verified that detractors are ready to infiltrate the party with moles, and urged members to be eternally vigilant, as this is the only potent weapon against such threats.
On the party's recent successes, Agugoesi mentioned victories in recent by-elections, citing Anambra State, where Justina Azuka made history by claiming the party's first electoral victory, as reported by the Street Journal.
He equally claimed that the ADC won two out of three seats in the state and National Assembly by-elections in Kaduna State, according to the Daily Post. These victories, he stated, show that the party's fortunes are on a "northward trajectory".
The event concluded with the new members proclaiming their loyalty to the ADC, promising to uphold the party's constitution as well as the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The new members also affirmed their commitment to the ADC Lagos Statement of Purpose and the Amuwo Odofin LGA Vision and Mission Statements.
