As part of efforts to promote excellence and good behavior in the public transport industry, Lagos-based publisher of August24news.com, Mr. Ajagbe Adeyemi Teslim, is set to launch the "Best Driver and Best Conductor" awards in the State.
The competition is open to all commercial bus drivers and conductors in Lagos State who are registered members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW). Winners will be chosen based on a comprehensive evaluation process that includes commuters' commendations, score cards, online voting, public opinions, and other relevant methods.
The best driver and conductor will receive an array of exciting prizes, including a brand new bus, a brand new private car, a duplex, twenty-four million naira cash, free fuel for a month, brand ambassador contract, driving contract, tour of 10 notable places in Lagos State, courtesy visit to 10 dignitaries in Lagos State, automatic employment for two children, 24 new tyres, award plaque, conductor and driver belt, befitting gala night, and letter of commendation from the Lagos State Government.
The "Best Driver and Best Conductor" awards aim to promote responsible and accountable behavior among drivers and conductors, enhance the image of the public transport industry, encourage good customer service and safety practices, and recognize and reward excellence in the industry.
The project has garnered support from notable figures, including former Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Dr. Muiz Banire (SAN), who describes the initiative as laudable and appeals for sponsors to support the project. Mr. Ajagbe has called on the Lagos State Government, corporate bodies, and well-meaning Nigerians to key into the idea and respond promptly to the proposal sent to them.
