The Lagos State Advocacy Team (SAT) has called for more medical personnel to be deployed at the Isolo Road, Primary Health Centre on Isolo Road, reports ITREALMS.

This, the team said, would aid prompt health service delivery in the Isolo axis and Lagos State in general, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking on behalf of SAT, the Co-ordinator, NEPWHAN, Mr Patrick Akpan made this call while identifying issues raised during the Clients Exit Interview (CEI) and Focus Group Discussion (FGD).

Some of key issues raised with shareholders in the community  as non-availability of medical doctors, un-equipped laboratory, shortage of malaria drugs and lack of 24-hours services at the centre.

Mr Akpan enjoined the council to take urgent steps in addressing the issues as many people prefer easy health care services within their community than a distanced location.

"There's need for a medical doctor at the centre as nobody wants to go to a place where there's no doctor" he said.

Responding to some issues raised by the team, Supervisor for Health Mushin Local Government, Hon. Femi Nuga, assured of good health care delivery for the people as there is adequate provision for the total health care.

Hon. Nuga also said there are apex nurses to calm the patients, pending the arrival of a medical doctor within ten minutes in cases of emergency at the health centre, while he also cited an instance of the low turnout of people at the centre as another constraints.

"Currently, we have six doctors rotating and who are on standby within ten-minutes when there's emergency for medical cases.
In all our satellite facilities, we have nurses and matrons that are capable of handling usual health issues promptly as we can't afford doctors in those places due to low influx of people in the area," he said.

He assured work in progress on other issues raised by the team by the council for prompt health delivery at the centre.

The SAT delegation to Mushin Local Government comprised of the State Coordinator, ACOMIN, Mrs Bunmi Tejumola, Co-ordinator, TB Network, Mrs Ifelunwa Aipoh, ATM project Officer, Ms Temitope James, Community Representatives including Mr Badru Olayiwola Olaide, Mrs Dosunmu Ibilola, among others.
