The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, could be walking to his freedom any moment from now following the triumph of his lawyers at the Appeal Court in Abuja, today, Thursday, October 13, 2022, reports

This is coming after spending close to 18 months in the facilities of the Department of State Services (DSS) where he was detained since.

ITREALMS gathered that the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, had upheld the appeal by his legal team by discharging and acquitting him of the seven count charges brought by the Federal Government.

According to one his lawyers, Barr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, who affirmed this on his Facebook page on Thursday, wrote: “Appeal allowed, Oyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, discharged and acquitted. We have won!”
ITREALMS gathered that Kanu, who was first arraigned on December 23, 2015 and later granted bail on April 25, 2017, had in his appeal dated April 29 and marked CA/ABJ/CR/625/2022, applied to be discharged and acquitted.

He also pointed out that “Court held that it was done in clear and egregious violation of extant international laws; there is no justification whatsoever even to warrant of arrest issued in Nigeria and cannot justify the illegality in the abduction and extraordinary rendition MNK.”

Earlier update before the final judgement, Barr. Ejiofor noted that “Onyendu MAZI NNAMDI KANU’s abduction and extraordinary rendition from Kenya is declared illegal and consequently constitutes a bar to further proceeding /trial.”
