2022 Elections: INEC commences training of SRO in Ado-Ekiti - ITREALMS

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the training of Supervisory Registration Officers (SROs) in preparation for the forthcoming governorship elections in both Ekiti and Osun States, has kicked off in Ado-Ekiti, capital of Ekiti State, reports ITREALMS.

INEC sources confirmed to ITREALMS that the training which commenced on Tuesday, March 1 is a two-day session for the SROs and is expected to end on 2nd March.

Another two-day training, ITREALMS gathered is billed to commence on March 4th through 5th for the Registration Officers (ROs) in Ado-Ekiti.

“The 2 days training of SROs commenced 1st - 2nd March 2022 while training of ROs will take place 4th - 5th March, 2022,” our sources said.

Speaking at the SRO commencement training, the Director-General of the Electoral Institute, Dr. Sa'ad Umar Idris, said that the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) is an essential aspect of the electoral process that aims to advance the inclusion of eligible citizens in the Voter Register to guarantee the credibility of the process as well as provide the opportunity for many citizens who were unable to vote at the last Governorship election to exercise their franchise.

He also expressed thanks to Directors of collaborating departments in the Commission, Sa’ad urged participants to acquaint themselves with the operation of the INEC’s Voter Enrolment Device (IVED) technology deployed for the purpose. Olu Dami/Editor
