Remmy Nweke

A clergy, Rev. Father Raymond Tumba Osa of St. Mary’s Catholic Church Kano, was among six subscribers of Globacom that were presented with Kia Picanto cars as winners of the ongoing Glo jumbo promotion of 180 cars in 180 days, at the weekend.

Whereas the Royal Father of Jos, His Royal Majesty, the Gbom Gwom Jos, Da Victor Pam, presented a KIA Picanto car to Rev Fr. Osa, and commercial telephone operator, Mr. Kwasu Yusuf Yashim in the Jos regional presentation, the Regional Manager, Ibadan Region 11 at Globacom, Mr. Alex Eremiokhale presented to four other winners at the second draw in the zone.

Speaking at the presentation, Gbom Gwom Jos, gave kudos to the second national operator, Globacom for the initiative, saying the programme is gradually taking away poverty from among Nigerians and its subscribers particularly.

“We are used to hearing about promotions in Lagos and Abuja by big companies, but this one is touching our people and our own environment. We are partakers of this Globacom goodwill and when a gesture like this spreads, poverty is chased away from among us,” he affirmed.

Earlier in his address, the Regional Manager of Jos Region, Mr. Chudi Nwoye, said Glo has delivered on its promises of making telephony available to the people of Plateau State.

“At the draw about two weeks ago, I made a promise to the people of Mangu, Shendam and Pankshin and today, I am proud to announce to you that Glo is live in these major towns of Plateau State. We’re not only live, we are giving the people a superior technology and a good bargain for their money. We are making our products affordable and well suited to the needs of our subscribers,” Mr. Nwoye reassured.

Emphasising that with the Glo’s blackberry package, for instance, the telco is reaching subscribers who are technologically savvy and who are on the move.

“With our Glo direct, we are reaching subscribers who are upwardly mobile and who want to keep abreast of latest events in the world. With the Glo Mobile internet, our subscribers notwithstanding their level can surf the internet through customized sights and with the per second billing which we championed, subscribers can reach their loved ones without paying through their nose,” he said.

In another development, Glo rewarded subscribers in the two regions in Ibadan who have remained loyal the network, which saw to the presentation of cars to four subscribers including a student of German Language at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Mr. Eric Asemudara, Ogun State-based pharmacist, Oamen Omorenuwa Sophia, and Zainab Bello who won in the Jos draw but was unable to claim her prize then, was also among those who drove a brand new Kia Picanto.

Reacting to the presentation, Mr. Asemudara, was full of gratitude to Globacom for making his dream come true.

“I was being careful of such fraud. As a student, I could not afford to be swindled as that had happened once. However, I have since discovered that this is real. Of course, I had hopes, like every other young Nigerian of riding a car someday but I never knew it would come this early in my life. Glo has made it possible,” he said.

For Sophia, who was thankful to Globacom for its commitment to poverty eradication in the country. “Glo promos are helping to eradicate poverty for a lot of Nigerians”, she opined.
