The Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) has expressed its profound sadness and heartfelt condolences to its Emeritus President and current Enugu State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Dr. Malachy Agbo, following the transition of his mother, Mrs. Laurita Nwakaego Agbo (née Ortuanya), reports ITREALMS.

The matriarch passed away at the Niger Foundation Hospital, Enugu, on Friday, May 8, 2026, after a brief illness.

December 15,2024 was the 3rd Sunday of Advent in the Catholic liturgical calendar. It was a day of special rejoicing as the faithful arrived at the midpoint of Advent, when their preparation was now half over and they are close to Christmas.

By a stroke of chance, this liturgical celebration turned into a surprisingly deeper and memorable socio-spiritual experience in the life of the parishioners of Holy Trinity Catholic Church Ewu-Owa, Ikorodu Lagos-Nigeria. Just as the liturgical celebration was coming to an end, the Priest-in-Charge, Rev. Fr. Augustine Echefu mounted the pulpit to appreciate the visiting priest - Rev. Fr. Amaechi for anchoring a successful Christmas retreat in the Church. 

Gov. Obiano’s mother passes to glory

The mother of the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Mrs. Christiana Obiano is dead at the age of 90 years, reports ITRealms. 

The Governor, Chief Willie Obiano made this disclosure through the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Anambra State Government, Ogbuefi Tony Nnachetta.

He told ITRealms that Mrs. Obiano died on Friday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital on Friday, June 2, this year.

“With a profound heart in gratitude to God for a fulfilled life, His Excellency, the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano announces the passing on of his dear mother, the matriarch of the Obiano family, Mrs Christiana Obiano,” Nnachetta said.

Until her death, Mrs. Obiano, who was the matriarch of the Obiano family was renowned Catholic.

The family, he also said, would soon make further announcements.

Emma Okwuke passes onto glory

The family of Emma Okwuke has announced his demise after a protracted illness, reports ITRealms

A press statement made available to ITRealms, by the Secretary, Nigerian Information and Communication Technology Reporters Association (NITRA), Mr. Kunle Azeez, said that Emmanuel Okwuke, a senior ICT reporter with the Independent, and committed member of NITRA, has kicked the bucket.

Late Emma Okwuke passed on December 24 morning after a prolonged illness.

“I have been sadly directed by NITRA President to announce to you that Emma Okwuke of Daily Independent , who just passed away … after doctors battled to save his life all through the night,” Azeez said.

He also prayed for the repose of Emma Okwuke to rest in peace.

In a related development, Azeez said the family has fixed dates for late Okwuke’s final burial rites.

According to him, on ‎Friday December 30, there will be Service of Songs between 4pm and 6pm at his residence, Oreyo Quarters, By Agbalumo Bus Stop, after Igbe Junction in Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

While on Saturday, December 31, interment and laying of his remains to earth in his Ikorodu residence by 10am.

May his soul and that of all departed rest in perfect peace.
