The Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF), in partnership with Sight and Life Foundation (SAL), has launched a nationwide initiative titled “Promotion of Production & Consumption of Fermented Foods for Food & Nutrition Security in Nigeria,” reports ITREALMS.
The programme, unveiled at a workshop in Lagos, aims to combat malnutrition and improve food security by promoting the production and consumption of locally fermented foods.
Every Nestle Foods product is fortified says Dr Kanalio Yvonne Olaloku, Manager at the Nestle Nutrition Foundation for West Africa, reports ITREALMS.
Speaking at a day capacity building for members of the Society for Media Advocacy on Health (SOMAH) at the Nestle Nigeria plc, Agbara factory on the theme: “Fortification as a strategy for improving nutrition indices,” Dr. Olaloku said that they have fortification strategy at Nestle.
The Federal Government has given a lea way for citizens to restock their needs, especially food as the lockdown now has a window of four-hour shopping, reports ITREALMS.
The latest order came from the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 on Wednesday, informing ITREALMS that all markets in states where a lockdown were imposed including Lagos, FCT and Ogun; will now be allowed to open between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm daily.
Affirming this development, the National Co-ordinator of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Aliyu Sani, said this on Wednesday during a briefing by members of the task force.
“For markets, only shops and stalls selling food and groceries shall be allowed to open to customers between the hours of 10:00 am and 2:00 pm,” he declared.
Cautioning however that for supermarkets and food stores, their opening hours must be between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm and all owners and managers have been warned to screen staff and customers before entry.
