The Nigeria Prize for Literature, sponsored by Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG), and the Rainbow Book Club today in Port Harcourt, held a bookfest in honour of three shortlisted playwrights for the 2023 edition of the Prize.

The bookfest featured readings from the shortlisted plays and a session with the playwrights who participated in person or virtually.

Both warehouses, highly secure structures and comprehensively insured by a leading insurance company, will provide much-needed and in demand storage spaces for Konga’s growing merchants, enabling these partners who sell on Konga’s platform to stock their goods for instant access and order fulfilment to customers.

In addition, the warehouses will go a long way in helping Konga carry out physical inspection of product quality, achieve same day delivery and meet global standards in e-commerce.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Online, Nick Imudia noted that the set-up of the warehouses and upgrading of our technologies some of the many innovative strategies the company is unveiling to uplift standards in the e-commerce sector.

Dana aircraft overshot runway in PH, no casualty

Dana aircraft from Abuja to Port Harcourt has overshot the runway on landing at the Port-Harcourt international airport, Omegwa, reports ITRealms.

The forty-nine passengers on board, ITRealms gathered, were successfully evacuated without any injuries or casualty.

Confirming this, the General Manager, Public Affairs at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu, said the runway at the airport has been closed, but soon will be re-opened after the necessary work had been done to ensure the runway is save for other flights to come in.

She also said the incident was suspected to have been caused by a heavy rain, which was accompanied by strong wind and storm in Port Harcourt axis.

“No casualty was recorded, as all passengers on board were safely evacuated,” she declared.

Of late, Dana has been in the eye of storm over air mishaps, especially in the past few weeks.

Just recently its emergency exit door was opened whilst landing at the local wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja,

Though the airline alleged an apprehensive passenger tinkered with the emergency exit while the plan still on the runway, alternate report showed there was no passengers at that particular exit to support the airline’s claim.

Etisalat PH students with Career Counselling

Etisalat Nigeria, has given a lift to some secondary school students in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, reports ITRealms.

 The career-focused event, which held inside the Conference Hall of Community Comprehensive Secondary School, Rumuokwurushi, Port Harcourt, is a CSR initiative of the company targeted at enlightening students on existing career opportunities across various fields and guiding them with adequate information thereby helping them to secure their future.

It featured career-enlightenment talks from resource persons drawn from the Etisalat Employee Volunteering Scheme, a platform through which Etisalat staff impact students within its host communities by delivering career enhancing sessions and mentorship to students in secondary schools.

Speaking at the one-day event, Manager, CSR, Etisalat Nigeria, Oyetola Oduyemi, said the career counselling initiative of the company speaks to the commitment of the company to partner with relevant authorities and organisations in driving sustainable national development through such platforms as Education, Health and Environment while singling out education as a core pillar due to its pivotal role in bringing about development.

“Etisalat Nigeria is passionate about driving sustainable national development, and does this by building on the platforms of Education, Health and the Environment. Etisalat Nigeria has faith in the youth of Rivers state; they represent the hope of a brighter tomorrow. And that is why we are making this investment of time and resources. We want them to believe in themselves and accept that the world is at their feet.

Oduyemi, who revealed that over 7,500 students have benefitted from the programme since inception seven years ago, also identified choice of career as a key determinant of success in a child’s life after school.

Also speaking, the Principal, Community Comprehensive Secondary School, Rumuokwurushi, Dr. (Mrs.) Justina Dappa, appreciated the telecommunication giant “for towing the honourable path of helping students resolve the confusion that usually surrounds the choice of careers just as she admitted that the students face enormous challenges while making the transition from secondary to tertiary education.”

Some of the students have also expressed delight at the quality of information the programme offered them.

Godspower Peter, a Senior Secondary School Three student noted that “The programme has transformed my life in many ways. I want to be a Lawyer and I have been taught what to do and how to go about my studies to enable me achieve my goal.”
