The Nigeria Customs Service Area 11 Command, Onne, Port Harcourt Rivers state says it has launched B'Odogwu, an indigenous technology called the Unified Customs Management System for modernization of Customs operations, enhance compliance and facilitate trade.
This was contained in a press release made available to our correspondent, Tuesday in Port Harcourt by the Command's Public Relations Officer, Theophilus P Duniya.
The Nigeria Customs Service Area 11 Command Onne Rivers State has intercepted a 1x40 foot container with number MAEU165396, which originated from Turkey laddened with arms and ammunition and contraband drugs worth over N13 billion, reports ITREALMS.
This was disclosed by the Comptroller General of Customs BA Adeniyi, while addressing Journalists at Onne, Rivers state, Monday.
The Customs Officers' Wives Association, (COWA) Onne chapter, has started distributing rice, vegetable oil and other food items to cushion the effects of hardship in the country among her members, orphans and especially wives of the fallen heroes and the less privileged.
Speaking during the distribution of the materials at Customs Barracks Ebubu Eleme, Rivers state, weekend, the Chairperson of COWA Onne, Customs command, Mrs. Yakaka Baba Imam said she was motivated by the kind-heartedness of the COWA National President, Mrs. Kikelomo Adeniyi who has taken it upon herself to improve the welfare of members.
The Nigeria Customs Service, Area II Command, Onne Port, Rivers State has joined Customs formations all over the World to mark the 2024, International Customs Day.
Speaking at the event, weekend in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital, the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Baba Imam stated that the theme for the year 2024, "Customs Engaging Traditional and New Partners with Purpose" was chosen to highlight the importance of collaboration and cooperation between customs administrations, International organizations, private sector entities and other stakeholders.
The Customs Officers' Wives Association (COWA) Onne Area 11 Command has commissioned a Secretariat, Canteen and unisex Salon, donates food items to widows of the Command, reports ITREALMS.
The association, ITREALMS gathered that the measure was part of efforts to improve the welfare of officers’ wives at the Port Harcourt Area 11 Customs Command, Onne Rivers State.
