The defending champions, Ricca-Odunfa has retained their title for the second time after a 3-1 victory over Araromi, at the 3rd edition of Hon. Afinni Unity Cup final match held at Mobolaji Johnson Sports Arena, Onikan, reports ITREALMS.

Kaduna is agog with excitement as preparation for this year’s First Bank of Nigeria Limited sponsored Emir of Zazzau African Patrons Cup and Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign gathers momentum. Etisalat U-15 school cup football returns

Etisalat Nigeria has concluded plans to kick off the third season of its Under 15 School Cup football competition, reports ITRealms.

This is coming two years after the last one was held.

ITRealms reports that Etisalat U-15 School Cup is a national grassroot football competition designed to connect, engage and promote young football talents. It promotes national unity by connecting young and aspiring footballers to becoming future champions.

Director, Brand & Experience, Etisalat Nigeria, Elvis Ogiemwanye, said the third season will provide exciting prospects of building on the success of the last two editions. 

“Our commitment to the nation is to support and create credible platforms that can contribute to the development of the country. Therefore, we are committed to developing a pool of young football talents. The success of the last two editions makes it even more exciting for us,” he said.

The 2016 edition will start with state competitions where various schools will compete at the state level to win a spot at the regional group stage.  The state winners will compete at the regional stage where 8 teams with the highest points will qualify for the National Finals happening in Lagos in November.

The regional group matches will kick off with a Trophy tour around the host cities of Ibadan, Ilorin, Enugu and Kaduna to enable respective participating teams and their supporters catch a glimpse of the prestigious Champions Trophy and experience the Mobile Champions Studio which is an innovative platform created to enable participants take creative pictures of themselves as well as tell their own football stories to Nigerians. 

The impressive trophy was inspired by other international tournaments, and it is predicated upon the belief that the competition will produce international champions in the near future.  

According to the Head, Events and Sponsorships, Modupe Thani, “the trophy has been designed to inspire our Etisalat School Cup Champions to believe in themselves and to dream of playing and winning bigger football championships as they grow their football talents and move unto professional football.”

The tour also features the Etisalat Football Truck where school students will need to score goals into holes positioned on the vehicle.  The tour promises to be exciting, engaging and very competitive.


The maiden edition of the competition in 2013 was won by Keke Senior High School, Ijaiye, Lagos and the school was rewarded with N1million cash prize and an all-expense paid trip to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), while the 2nd edition was won by Government Secondary School, Owerri, Imo State going home with the star prize of N2 million educational award and N50, 000 each to players of the winning team.

Nigerian Team Humane, 15 others qualify for 2016 Imagine World Cup

Team Humane from the University of Ife, Nigeria has qualified alongside 15 others for the Microsoft Imagine Cup World finals, slated for Seattle next month, reports ITRealms.

The finals scheduled between July 26 and 29, ITRealms gathered, would see Team Humane Nigeria under the world citizenship category present the group’s ingenious app designed to help the visually impaired navigate their smart phones.

Other teams in the world championship category include Team YuuySingapore; Team Home Guardians; Team Derma Track; Team Amanda-Greece; Team Medcases- Hungary; Team Psyllosoft; Team Boneycare – China; Team VRMotion- Germany; Team Another Team- Ecuador; Team EyeUs- Mexico; The Humane Team- Nigeria; Team Night Watch-Tunisia; and, Team Ishoo – Tawain.  

Another category in the competition is Games and the finalists include, which have  Team None Developers-Indonesia; Team PH21Thailand; Team Tower Ups-Brazil; Team Vanguard-Bahrain; Team Digital Interactive-South Africa; Team shooting Star Studio-Spain; Team Infinite Pizza-Russia; and, Team Studio Attic South Korea.

The third category in the competition, ITRealms reports is Innovation, including Team Black Ai-Australia; Team Clove- New Zealand; Team Bit Master-Sri Lanka; Team ENTy-Romania; Team KinectGarten Hong Kong; Team Bionic Scope Japan, Team ImeiDB Guatemala; Team BasiliskTunisia; Team AnalytiKids –Turkey; Team Healthx-United States; and, Team Dark Side Ducks- Italy

A press statement from Microsoft, noted this year, 35 teams will bring their unique visions for the future to Seattle to compete in the Imagine Cup World Finals, stressing that the journey to the world finals began last August, when students started to form their teams at schools all across the globe.

Also, Microsoft said that to get to this point, over 150 top teams from National Finals events went on to the  World Semifinals, where they were judged by a global panel of Most Valuable Professionals (MVPs), industry experts and Microsoft staff.  

ITRealms further gathered that at the World Finals, the remaining teams will compete to be crowned as the champions in their respective categories and the chance to win $50,000. Then, one team will go on to win the coveted Imagine Cup and the grand prize, a private mentoring session with Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella.

Nigeria set to shine @ Microsoft Imagine Cup with Team LifeWatch

The Chief Mentor of the Team LifeWatch, representing Nigeria at the Microsoft Imagine Cup competition currently holding in Seattle, Washington, Adebayo Ogundipe, has boasted that the team will bring the cup home, ITRealms reports.

“We will win. We will advance to the final stage tomorrow.The team’s presentation was convincing enough for them to win. There were positive signals during their session”, hesaid.

Microsoft Imagine Cup, ITRealms learnt,  has been dubbed the world’s premier technology competition that provides opportunities for students across all disciplines to team up and use their creativity, passion, and knowledge of technology to create applications, games and integrated solutions that can change the way we live, work and play.

In the press release made available to ITRealms, the team was quoted as saying that health and gaming solutions topped inventions on showcase at the event saying there are positive signals that Team LifeWatch would advance to the next phase of the competition, having taken their turn in presenting their solution to the panel of judges, ITRealms reports.

The spokesperson of Team LifeWatch, Raymond Obinaju, said “We are really optimistic about this. And the judge’s comments seem to be really promising. With AsthmaVisor, Team LifeWatch seeks to save an estimated 25million people living with asthma in Nigeria, and about 334million people globally. So I think we have a good case.”

The Team LifeWatch, ITRealms learnt, comprised four students from the AfeBabalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD); AdeyemoOluwaseun, Kevin Ahwin, Sobola David and Raymond Obinaju.
Speaking after their presentation, Communications Lead, Microsoft Nigeria, YemiOrimolade stated that the team’s session was apt, informative, educative, and mind blowing, “I think their solution is definitely a contender for the converted title.”

Nigeria, China, South Korea,, Nepal, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, South Africa, Tunisia, Brazil, Canada, Hungary, Japan, New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States, Cyprus, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Mexico, Romania Taiwan, ITRealms reports, are the countries  participating in the global competition in Seattle, Washington this year.

GTBank-Lagos Principal Cup Season 6 set for Semi Finals



 
All is set for the semi final matches of the on-going Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) Lagos State Principals Cup competition Season 6, ITRealms reports.

The match, ITRealms learnt, is to take place on Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th of April at the Onikan Stadium, Lagos Island, as Birrel Avenue Senior High School takes on Ikorodu Senior Grammar School, while Ifako Comprehensive Senior High School faces Keke High School.

On the other hand, Ikotun Senior High Ikotun will be taking on Government Senior College, Agege, in the male categories while Ikorodu Senior High School Ikorodu faces Birrel Avenue Senior High School, Sabo.

ITRealms gathered that Birrel Avenue School, making a first appearance at the tournament, gave Isolo Senior High School, Isolo a 2 nail victory to qualify for the semi finals, even as Ifako High School, also a new face, nailed Diary Farm senior Secondary School, Agege with a 2-1 victory to sail to the semi finals.

Speaking on the tournament, games master, Mr. Akinyele, told ITRealms that the major challenge has been getting the right team selection that meets the stipulated requirements and teams training schedule.

In the same vein, Ifako school games master, Mr. Famakinwa, also said they feel spectacular to get to this of the competition. He further expressed enthusiasm that his team will imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship when they face 2012 champions, Keke High School Agege in the semi-finals.

ITRealms gathered that Guaranty Trust Bank plc is one of the few Nigerian financial institutions that have maintained a defined Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy since its inception in 1990 and actively supports numerous programmes in Education.
