NCS set for 12th International Conference





The President, Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), Prof. David Adewumi has disclosed that all is now set for the 12th International Conference of the society in Akure beginning from Wednesday, July 22 to Friday 24, 2015, reports ITRealms.

With the theme “Information Technology for Inclusive Development,” this year’s international conference, according to  Adewumi, is designed to attract dignitaries  in the IT sector focusing on important issues relating to the theme such as Smartcity and broadband penetration, innovation and leadership in IT, cashless society and payment system, critical information infrastructure protection (CIIP), cloud computing and big data, social networks, next generation networking and internet, IT Human Capital Development (Mentorship)¸e-Health/ e-Education/ e-Government and all the es, Entrepreneurship development in the IT.

Adewumi while addressing newsmen at a press conference, Friday, at Alausa, listed the achievements of the conference to include cashless economy, outsourcing, local content, Information Technology security solutions. He however decried government’s inability to appoint NCS experts into ICT-driven government ministries and parastatals like the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), adding that a situation in which government awards IT related contracts to expatriates does no good to the growth and development of the country. He stated that NCS experts possess better credentials than their foreigns counterparts.

Speaking on his achievements as NCS boss, he said they raised the membership from four to seven industry interest groups, added more vehicles to NCS fleet, insisting that the public is in a better position to judge his administration.

ITRealms gathered there will be an election of new officials into the National Executive Council (NEC) of the society at the Annual General Meeting to pilot its affairs for the next two years.

Breaking News: Ondo deputy governor Alhaji Ali Olanusi impeached

The embattled deputy governor of Ondo State, Alhaji Ali Olanusi has finally been impeached by the members of the State House of Assembly at the State capital, Akure this morning, Monday April 27, 2015, reports ITRealms.

News report monitored in Lagos by correspondent showed that Alhaji Olanusi with 22 out of the 26 lawmakers consenting to the impeachment. Whereas two abstained, another two members belonging to All Progressive Congress (APC) were absent during the Monday proceeding.

ITRealms also gathered that Olanusi had been under investigation over seven allegations of ‎gross misconduct and anti-party activities, which led to the setting up of a 7-man panel of investigation by the State Chief‎ Judge, Olasehinde Kumuyi.

The investigation panel chaired by Hon. Olatunji Adeniyan, ITRealms learnt, had earlier in the morning submitted its report to the House.

The impeachment, according to Channels TV was top on the agenda of Monday’s plenary session attended by 24 out of the 26 members of the House, including the Speaker, were reportedly in support of the process with two abstaining out of the 24 abstaining.

The motion for impeachment of Alhaji Olanusi was moved by the Majority Leader, Hon. Henry Akinsoyinu, who disclosed to the house that the seven impeachable offences of gross misconduct and abuse of office levelled against Mr. Deputy Governor have been proved, hence it was seconded by the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Oyebo Aladetan.

The Seven man panel of investigation set up by by the State Chief‎ Judge, Olasehinde Kumuyi, chaired by Olatunji Adeniyan had earlier in the morning submitted its report to the House.

The Speaker of the House, Jumoke Akindele, adopted the motion and declared the Deputy Governor impeached and removed from office.

She gave a directive that all the government property in possession of the Deputy Governor be handed over to the Permanent Secretary in the office of the Deputy Governor.

ChannelsTV also reported that the two members of the House belonging to the opposition party, APC, Gbenga Edema and Fola Olasehinde, were absent at the sitting.

Lil Kesh, Reminsce Set FUTA on Fire with Etisalat Cliqfest



It was fun and excitement at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) as acclaimed most innovative telecommunications company, Etisalat, staged its special two-day Cliqfest event, reports ITRealms.

Etisalat Cliqfest ITRealms also reports that held this event at the university’s premises last weekend as a youth-centric, empowerment, and educative initiative that aims at boosting all-round development of the Nigerian youth.

The event which was anchored by ‘king of humour’ and fast growing Comedian of the Federal Republic (CFR), Bashiru Ahmed Adekunle, ITRealms gathered, witnessed performances from several sensations in the music industry such as Skales, Reminsce, Evelle, Lil Kesh, and Mo Easy.

According to the Manager, Youth Segment at Etisalat Nigeria, Idiareno Atimomo, “Etisalat is happy to bring fun and educative programmes to university students as it encourages young adults to connect with their peers and make them understand that the ability to succeed is available to anyone that believes. It is for this reason that Etisalat Nigeria is impacting students with the needed skills to prepare the Nigerian youth for the ever-dynamic world.”

Climaxing the event was the winning of a brand new car by Onoriukpe Timothy Efemena, a100 level Mechanical Engineering student at FUTA. Efemena rode home in a brand new Hyundai i10 car courtesy of Etisalat Nigeria. An obviously excited Efemena, who had just resumed at the university as a fresher, ITRealms learnt, commended the brand for giving him such a great opportunity. “Winning the highly coveted grand prize of a car is truly a dream come true for me and I am forever grateful to Etisalat for it,” he quipped.
