McEnies Global Communications has strengthened efforts to integrate climate intelligence into Nigeria’s health sector through the Weather and Climate Information Services for Resilience (WISER) Health project, an initiative designed to improve the use of weather and climate data in addressing climate-related health risks, reports ITREALMS.
The project is led by the UK Met Office in collaboration with the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) and supported by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) alongside the Rockefeller Foundation.
The initiative seeks to enhance the quality, accessibility, and practical use of weather and climate forecasts by Nigeria’s health sector to help tackle climate-sensitive health challenges such as heat stress and vector-borne diseases.
The programme aligns with Nigeria’s third Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC 3.0) commitment, which aims to deploy an integrated climate, health, and environmental early warning system in at least 18 states by 2030.
As part of the initiative, McEnies Global Communications is working closely with key public institutions including the Federal Ministry of Health, NiMet, and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to strengthen national climate-resilient health systems through improved access to timely and actionable data.

The WISER Health project benefits from collaboration with global development partners including the World Bank and the World Health Organization (WHO).
