The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) and the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at leveraging the expertise, creativity, and skills of Nigerians in the diaspora to drive homegrown innovation and technological advancement.
Mr. Halilu showcased some of NASENI’s flagship initiatives such as a government-backed payment platform modeled after Revolut, designed to enable seamless multi-currency transactions with real-time monitoring at affordable rates.
He also highlighted the Innovation Hub and Incubation Programme, which funds scientists and innovators across Nigeria and in the diaspora, as well as Delta-2; a joint initiative with the Czech Republic now entering its third phase to boost international technology partnerships.
He stressed that the partnership with NiDCOM would be crucial in expanding the reach and impact of these projects, particularly by engaging diaspora professionals in science, technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship to deliver practical solutions that can strengthen the Nigerian economy.
Dabiri-Erewa commended NASENI’s efforts and emphasized that NiDCOM’s extensive database of Nigerian professionals worldwide would be a critical tool in achieving the vision. She further underscored that the partnership aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes innovation and economic transformation.
She assured NASENI of the Commission’s full support and encouraged the Agency to participate in the forthcoming 8th Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit (NDIS), scheduled for November 11–13, 2025, in Abuja.
Both organizations resolved to establish a joint working committee to streamline collaboration and design impactful projects in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), while strengthening wider diaspora engagement for national development.
