Genuine case of air rage?
As the controversy surrounding the Ibom Air incident continues to unfold, many questions remain unanswered.

The video of the passenger being dragged off the plane has sparked outrage, but some have raised concerns about the events leading up to the altercation.

Was it a genuine case of air rage, or was it a publicity stunt gone wrong?

Passengers versus conductor:
To understand the dynamics of this incident, it is essential to clarify the roles of the individuals involved.

In the transportation sector, a passenger is a person who travels in a vehicle, relying on the vehicle and its crew to transport them safely to their destination.

A conductor, on the other hand, is a crew member responsible for managing and overseeing the vehicle or any other means of transport, its passengers, and sometimes its cargo.

Flight attendant:
In the aviation industry, the role equivalent to conductors is typically performed by flight attendants. Flight attendants are responsible for ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers on an aircraft. They demonstrate safety procedures and equipment, serve food and beverages, handle emergencies, and provide customer service. In the context of the Ibom Air incident, the crew members involved in the altercation with the passenger is the flight attendants.

Questions begging for answers:
To get to the bottom of this story, we need to examine the evidence and ask the tough questions and here are some key queries that need to be addressed:

1. What happened at the airport before takeoff? Was there a confrontation between the passenger and the crew, or was it a calm and peaceful interaction?

2. What transpired during the flight? Allegations have been made that another hostess accosted the passenger after she explained her phone was on flight mode with a faulty power button. Did this incident occur, and if so, how was it handled?

3. Who intervened to help the passenger? Someone reportedly helped the passenger switch off her phone. Who was this person, and why have the person not come forward to corroborate the passenger's account?

4. Was the phone really on flight mode? If so, why was the passenger still asked to switch it off? This raises questions about the crew's handling of the situation.

5. Did the passenger experience abuse from another hostess? If true, this would suggest a deeper issue within the airline's customer service.

6. What happened after landing? The passenger allegedly went to use the passage to use the toilet and was then blocked from disembarking, leading to the involvement of aviation security. Was this a proportionate response, or was it an overreaction?

7. Why was aviation security not informed before landing? If the crew had issues with the passenger during the flight, why they did not alert security before landing to avoid the confrontation?

8. Was the invitation to aviation security an afterthought? Did the airline use security as a means to deal with the passenger in a way that would teach her a lesson?

9. Did the passenger's behavior become aggressive due to the handling of the situation? Or was she aggressive from the start, and the crew's response was justified?

10. What does the footage reveal? Ibom Air has released video clips on social media, but we need to see more footage to understand what really happened. The airline should release unedited and undoctored videos to set the record straight.

11. Though Aviation Minister Keyamo, has reportedly directed that whosoever took the video and shared it should be identified and sanctioned. Will they ever do that?

And now, as we ponder the events of this incident, a more pressing question arises: Should the passenger or the flight attendant be our next neighbour at Kirikiri?

Our Missing Kirikiri Neighbour:
So, who would you rather live next to - someone who allegedly refused to follow airline rules and became aggressive, or someone who may have overreacted and used excessive force?

The answer might depend on how you interpret the events of this incident through the footages if ever released in Nigeria.

Let's wait and see how the investigation unfolds and what the final verdict will be. One thing is certain, however, - this incident has sparked a national conversation about airline safety, customer service, and the limits of authority.
