The Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), has expressed deep concern over the ongoing disruptions to diesel supply logistics for cell sites nationwide, reports ITREALMS.
A press statement available to ITREALMS signed by ALTON chairman, Engr. Gbenga Adebayo, indicated that NUPENG and NOGASA members have blocked access to diesel loading depots in Kaduna, Lagos, and Koko, preventing distribution to thousands of telecommunications sites operated by ALTON members, including IHS Towers.
This action, stemming from allegations of diesel misappropriation against two NOGASA member companies under investigation, poses a critical threat to the operation of approximately 16,000 telecommunications sites servicing millions of Nigerians.
These sites support essential services like banking, healthcare, emergency response systems, and national security operations.
While ALTON respects NOGASA and NUPENG's vital role in Nigeria's energy supply chain, they urged them to prioritize national infrastructure and public safety.

"We request uninterrupted access to diesel supply locations and encourage constructive dialogue to resolve the matter without further disruption," ALTON leadership said.
As telecommunications infrastructure is classified as Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII) under Nigerian law, any deliberate disruption constitutes a serious threat to national security and economic stability.
"We call on NUPENG and NOGASA leadership to intervene and ensure disputes are resolved lawfully," he beckons and urged relevant authorities, including ONSA, NCC, and other stakeholders, to intervene urgently to prevent a nationwide communications blackout.
ALTON remains committed to ensuring quality telecommunications services for Nigerians, but disruptions undermine our members' ability to maintain service delivery and threaten the country's digital ecosystem.
Further, ALTON emphasized the need for immediate resolution to prevent further disruptions to critical national infrastructure.
