Airtel Nigeria CEO highlights data boom, nationwide connectivity as key innovation areas - ITREALMS

Airtel Nigeria's Managing Director and CEO, Dinesh Balsingh, has identified data demands and network connectivity as critical areas where the company is innovating to improve customer satisfaction, reports ITREALMS

Speaking at a media roundtable in Lagos, Balsingh emphasized the importance of investing in 5G and fibre technologies to build a scalable network that can support Nigeria's digital future.

Balsingh noted the exponential growth of data usage in Nigerian cities, particularly Lagos, driven by rapid urbanization, digitization, and mobile-first lifestyles. "Data is the new oxygen," he said, highlighting Airtel's investments in 5G and fibre to enable education, healthcare, commerce, and opportunity through reliable, high-capacity connectivity.

The roundtable showcased several advancements, including Airtel's Business Network as a Service (NaaS) solution, collaborations with Starlink and OneWeb, self-service customer experience products, AI-enabled user data and privacy protections, and cashback programmes on the Smartcash mobile app. Other initiatives highlighted include:

Airtel's AI-powered Spam Alert Service, which flags 30 million spam SMS messages monthly.

The NXtra Data Centre, set to launch in 2026 as Nigeria's largest data centre Education support projects, including a N1 billion investment in the 3MTT initiative, Adopt-a-School, and Reimagine Education programme benefiting over 1.5 million Nigerian learners

Balsingh emphasized Airtel's commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions for digital connectivity in urban and hard-to-reach areas. With 5G-ready technologies and fibre rollout in major urban areas, Airtel is ensuring Nigerians are not left behind in the global digital economy.
