The Customs Zone C Coordinator, Port Harcourt Zonal Headquarters, Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) SK Dangladima, has visited the Eastern Marine Command of the Nigeria Customs Service in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, reports ITREALMS.
The visit is part of his scheduled tour of all Customs commands in Zone C to get first-hand information on their operations.
During the visit, ACG Dangladima emphasized the importance of discipline among officers and men, expressing concern that discipline is gradually waning. He directed the Customs police to ensure discipline is maintained, warning that any officer found wanting would face consequences.
On the recent promotion examinations, the Zone C Customs boss assured officers that the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, is impartial in the promotion process. He advised officers not to worry, saying promotion is not a "do or die" affair and that it will come in due time.
ACG Dangladima also highlighted the importance of training and self-development, stating that the CGC has made it mandatory for officers to undergo courses as part of the promotion criteria. He also emphasized the need for regular health check-ups and maintaining family relationships.
The ACG praised the Eastern Marine Command's Area Controller, Comptroller CC Dim, for his teamwork and collaboration with sister agencies, particularly the Nigeria Navy.
He also congratulated the CGC on his emergence as Chairman of the World Customs Organisation (WCO) Council.
On office accommodation, ACG Dangladima promised to represent the Command's interest to the CGC for a befitting office.
In his welcome address, Comptroller CC Dim expressed satisfaction with the visit, highlighting the Command's cordial relationship with stakeholders and sister agencies, which has earned them numerous awards. He also noted the challenge of low staffing at the Command.
