DNSSEC & IPv6: Czech restarts implementation – ITREALMS

The government of the Czech Republic has restarted the implementation of the Domain Name System Security Extension (DNSSEC) and Internet Protocol version Six (IPv6) in public administration, reports ITREALMS.

This was contained in a guideline made available to ITREALMS by the government of Czech Republic, effective, January 17, 2024.


According to the resolution passed by the Government of the Czech Republic of 17th January 2024, No. 49, restarts the implementation of DNSSEC and IPv6 in public administration.

As such, the Government said it has taken note of the information on the restart of the implementation of DNSSEC and IPv6 technology in the public administration, contained in Part III of document No. 25/24.

It, therefore, ordered that members of the Government and heads of other central government bodies who have not yet ensured compliance with government resolution No. 982 of 18 December 2013 on the Report on the Implementation of DNSSEC technology and Government Resolution No. 727 of 8 June 2009 on the Report on the transition to Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), to remedy this situation by 31 December 2024 at the latest.

Members of the government and heads of other central government bodies were also directed to cease providing government services on IPv4 from 6 June 2032.

The Minister for Industry and Trade, ITREALMS gathered has been mandated to provide the government with a monitoring report on the deployment of DNSSEC and IPv6 by 30 June 2025.

“Evaluate the status of compliance with the conditions for the full transition to IPv6 annually by 30 June and publish this evaluation on the website of the Ministry of Industry and Trade,” the government stated.

In addition, the Ministry is to report to the government on the status of preparations for the full transition to IPv6 by 31 May 2027.

The resolution further directed that its execution would be by members of the government and heads of the other central state administration bodies.
