Ebeledike who was speaking on upholding civic responsibilities, noted that the life of every citizen depends on the choice they make with their votes.

He also encouraged Ndigbo in Lagos to get ready to cast their votes without fear of molestation.

A press statement made available to ITREALMS by the Publicity Secretary of AASDU, Chidi Abajue, quoted Chief Ebeledike as reminding ndi-Anambra in Lagos that it is their civic right to choose who becomes the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria come February 25 through the ballot box.

"Your vote is your voice, and nobody can suppress that voice from being heard. Your life depends on your vote. Your vote is an expression of how and who you want in your life and that of your children to be governed as a bona fide citizen of your nation" Ebeledike said.

He also decried denial of a citizen the right to vote, saying it amounts to the worst form of enslavement which must be resisted with overwhelming force.

Ebeledike assured Ndi-Anambra that measures have been put in place by the Igbos in Lagos to resist any attempt to disenfranchise them from freely expressing their voice in electoral matters through the ballot box come February 25, and thereafter.

Ebeledike equally enjoined them to be peaceful and law-abiding at all times, and promptly report any act of molestation to the law enforcement officers, and Igbo union organisations in Lagos for necessary interventions.

The AASDU President was reacting to some reported acts of intimidating ndi-Igbo in Lagos against their freedom to cast votes in the forthcoming elections.

ITREALMS recalled that there have been cases of intimidation against non-indigenes in the Igbara, Eti-Osa and Mowo-Nla, Ikorodu areas of Lagos in the forthcoming elections among others.

Concluding, the AASDU President expressed his appreciation of the security measures put in place by President Mohammadu Buhari for peaceful, free and fair conduct of the forthcoming elections.

Ebeledike also congratulated the various organs of Igbo unions in Lagos for their coordinated efforts and readiness to promptly intervene in securing the lives and rights of our people henceforth.
