Late Mbazulike Amechi: Chief Iwuanyanwu leads 33 CoEPs to plan burial - ITREALMS

Chief Dr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu has been nominated to preside over the 34-member Committee of Eminent Persons (CoEPs), to plan the funeral of the foremost nationalist and statesman, late Chief Mbazulike Amechi, also known as Dara Akunwafor na Ukpor, reports

Late Chief Amechi, ITREALMS recalled, was one of the last remaining Fathers of Nigerian Independence, and Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation in the First Republic, who passed on 1st November 2022 at the age of 93 in his home town, Ukpor in Anambra State.

Disclosing this to 
ITREALMS on behalf of the family, Tagbo I. Amechi, said they have constituted a national planning committee for late Chief Amechi’s funeral in consultation with his associates and other stakeholders.

Tagbo also revealed that late Chief Amechi’s befitting burial has been scheduled for 16th February 2023 at Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

He gave names of the Committee of Eminent Persons to be chaired by Iwuanyanwu and Hon. CID Maduabum as Secretary, to consist of Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, Chief Edwin Clark, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, Dr. Tim Menakaya, Chief Simon N. Okeke, Sen. Dr. Adolphus Wabara, Sen. Chief Anyim Pius Anyim, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, 

Also, Arc. Obong Victor Attah, Sen. Dr. Sam Egwu, Chief Achike Udenwa, Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu, Dame Virgy Etiaba, Sen. Theodore Orji, Chief John Nnia Nwodo, and Dr. Oby Ezekwesili.

Others are Ambassador Frank Ogbuewu, Ambassador Dr. Mrs. Kema Chikwe, Iyom Josephine Anenih, Ambassador Chief Mrs. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Prof. Maurice Iwu, Senator Ikechukwu Obiorah, Senator Nkechi Nwaogu, Hon. Prince Chibudom Nwuche, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, Chief Okey Ezenwa, Hon. Dr. Prince Ned Nwoko, Prof. Fred Eze, Prince Emeka Udodem, and Chief Uwakwe Azikiwe.

Tagbo pointed out that in due course, the committee will make public, further details, just as the family appreciated the committee members for accepting to serve in this regards.

“We thank the eminent persons who despite their tight schedules have agreed to do this as a mark of respect to a great son of Nigeria,” Tagbo said.
