Yemi Keri to chair 4th eBusiness Life Int’l Girls in ICT celebration

The fourth edition of the eBusiness Life organized International Girls in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) celebration, would be chaired by Mrs Olayemi Keri, reports ITRealms.

The event being hosted by eBusiness Life Communication Limited, publishers of eBusiness Life Magazine would hold in Lagos and to afford Nigerians to celebrate the 2015 Edition of the International Girls in ICT.

Chief Executive Officer, eBusiness Life Communication, Mrs. Ufuoma Emuophedaro,  affirmed to ITRealms that 2015 edition would be chaired by the Managing Director, Edo State Information Communications and Technology Agency (ICTA), Mrs Olayemi Wonuola Keri, noting there will be a competition among students from selected secondary schools, roundtable discussion, interactive and motivational talk from renowned women ICT professionals to name a few.

She also said International Girls’ in ICT Day is an initiative launched through ITU Resolution 70 with the idea of creating a global environment that will empower and encourage girls and young women to consider careers in the field of information and communication technologies.

The ITU, she said, declared the 4th Thursday of April every year as a day of encouragement to girls and young women to consider careers in ICT, while other stakeholders are reminded to support them in their choice.

She noted that in the past three years, eBusiness Life has organised the event annually in Nigeria, gathering young girls from different schools, to educate and sensitize them on the opportunities inherent in a profession in ICT.

The need to sensitise young girls, she said, is premised on the fact that the society has unconsciously relegated the female gender and delegated careers in technical fields, especially in ICT, to their male counterparts.

Mrs. Emuophedaro urged more efforts to be made to introduce young girls to career opportunities in technical fields in both the public and private sectors to help them have a wide range of options and contribute their quota in the industry.

She further stated that the International Girls in ICT Day celebration and subsequent campaign will further open up opportunities for girls in the ICT sector.

E-business is spreading immensely. Even Muslim Entrepreneur start-up can take this form too. It's amazing, build a brand recognition, will broaden the market and also will connect the other muslims with this.
