Global leader in Information Technology (IT) software solution, Microsoft Corporation, has given a boost to the one-day ATCON/PMM Cyber Café Survival workshop and mini exhibition in Lagos.

The workshop scheduled for Friday, September 21, would now hold at the Ikeja Airport Hotel, Lagos.

Chief executive, Private Media Mart Limited, Mr. Ejiofor Agada, who disclosed this said that Microsoft has decided to support the event as part of its commitment to the development of IT industry in the country.

“Microsoft’s interest in this event is borne out of their commitment to the development and improvement of the cyber culture in the country as well as the quest to encourage discerning investors in cyber café business to maintain best practices,” he declared.

He also said that the entrance of Microsoft as a sponsor of the inaugural event is to take it to the six geo-political zones of the country.

The software giant, he revealed, would use the platform to add value to cyber café entrepreneurs by showcasing its Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) and Cyber Café solutions to the participants.

Mr. Agada further informed that the event venue has since been shifted from Sheraton to Ikeja Airport Hotel, but the date remains Friday, September 21, 2007, citing logistics advantages for the change.

He explained that the change would not affect the event in any way as adequate arrangements have been put in place to ensure that exhibitors and guests would have good time during the event.

The Cyber Café Workshop is aimed at encouraging potential investors to participate in efforts at accelerating the expansion of Internet services to sub urban and rural communities in the country.

“It is also an avenue to discuss the problems bedevilling cyber business interests as well as proffer solutions to the high mortality rate of cyber cafes across the country,” he added.
