SME pack, the telco said, is aimed at helping to make the operators in this category to become more effective and cost efficient in their operations in extending the values of telecommunications to their communities.

According to the Public Relations Manager at Celtel Nigeria, Mr. Emmanuel Otokhine, the package was designed to help entrepreneurs and staff of small and medium scale enterprises improve on their efficiency, lower cost of communication, manage car insurance cost, promote or advertise company name through customized phone numbers, network with other businesses and provide various other incentives.

The governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Human Development and Poverty Reduction, Mr. Mathew Idu, said the launch of Celtel SME Pack or Tool Kit in the region would assist in promoting the growth of small and medium sized businesses while stimulating the region’s economy.

Gov. Chime pointed out that small and medium scale enterprises are the engine room of all economies, stressing that no economy could thrive without a very strong SME sector.

He added that small businesses are the greatest employers of labour, wealth creation for households and rural dwellers.

Mr. Chime further said Celtel’s effort clearly indicates that the telco is indisputably interested in partnering the government to create an enabling environment for SMEs to thrive in the country.
