AIG Shehu resumes @Zone 2 Onikan, replaces Adamu - ITREALMS

ITREALMS:
A new Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police, Mr. Lawal Shehu, has  resumed at Zone 2 Command Onikan, Lagos, reports ITREALMS.

CSP Dolapo Badmos, Police Public Relations Officer, Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos, confirmed this to ITREALMS, noting that the new Assistant Inspector General of Police to head the Zone is AIG Lawal Shehu. 

Shehu who took over from AIG Adamu Ibrahim who recently retired, resumed duty on Wednesday.21st of November, 2018. 

Born on 24 December 1960, AIG Lawal Shehu is an indigene of Katsina State, who joined the Nigeria Police Force as Cadet ASP in 1988 and has worked within the force in various capacities.

ITREALMS gathered that prior to his promotion to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police, he headed Bauchi and Nassarawa States as Commissioner of Police.

Further, ITREALMS gathered that on his promotion to the rank of AIG, he was deployed to head the force's Border Patrol Unit, and was later moved to Criminal and Intelligence Department, Force Headquarters Abuja, the office he occupied until his redeployment to Zone 2 Command Onikan, Lagos. 

AIG Lawal is an ardent reader of books and is married with children.

Overland Airways resumes Asaba flights

The Nigeria’s Overland Airways, has resumed flight services to Asaba International Airport following the re-opening of the airport, reports ITRealms.

Overland Airways flights, ITRealms gathered, will be departing Abuja to Asaba by 11:30am on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 12 noon on Sundays. Flights from Asaba to Abuja will depart by 1pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 1:30pm on Sundays.

Overland Airways expressed appreciation to the Delta State Government for the re-opening of the airport for business operations. According to Mrs. Aanu Benson, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Overland Airways, the upgrade of the Asaba International Airport will promote seamless, conducive and safe operations of flight services at the airport.

“Since our first-ever flight to Asaba International Airport which opened the airport in 2011, we have been, and will remain a major partner in the economic transformation of Delta State. Our resumption of the Abuja-Asaba-Abuja flights demonstrates the commitment of Overland Airways to serve the people of Delta State and its environs. We want to assure the travelling public, most especially passengers between Asaba and Abuja, of our customer-centric service at all times,” he said.

The Delta State Government had announced the closure of the Asaba Airport effective April 9, 2018 to allow for the upgrade of facilities at the airport.

Overland Airways provides vital flight connectivity between Asaba and Abuja, thereby easing the inconvenience passengers face in connecting both cities.

Delta State is an oil producing and agricultural State in Nigeria, situated in the South-South geo-political zone with a population of 4,098,291. The capital city is Asaba, located at the northern end of the State with an estimated area of 762 square kilometres (294 sq mi), while Warri is the economic nerve center of the State and also the most populated. The State with a total land area of 16,842 square kilometres (6,503 sq mi) is endowed with many solid minerals.


Overland Airways is Nigeria’s longest-serving and most consistent scheduled commercial airline providing uninterrupted flight services in Nigeria over the past 16 years. Overland Airways flies to various destinations in Nigeria including Lagos, Ilorin, Asaba, Abuja, Dutse, Jalingo, Akure and Ibadan. The airline looks to begin regional flight services to Cotonou and Lome, both in West Africa.

Ernest Akinlola resumes @Ntel as new CEO

Acclaimed and proudly Nigerian first Fourth Generation cum Long-Term Evolution (4G/LTE)-Advanced network, Ntel has named Mr. Ernest Akinlola, as its substantive Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, just as he has resumed, reports ITRealms.

Mr. Akinlola, ITRealms gathered, is a senior executive with over 20 years extensive experience in telecoms media and technology would bring to bear on his latest job after working with the One-2-One telecoms operator in the United Kingdom (UK) and was instrumental in establishing a world class internal audit and compliance department.

As Head of Department he led the assessment and subsequent launch of Virgin Mobile UK on the One 2 One network which proved to be the pioneering Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) at the time. Following One 2 One’s acquisition by T-Mobile, Ernest was a key member on the integration team, leading on commercial strategy and growing the wholesale side of the business to launch several MVNO’s focused on specific customer segments. He was an integral member of the team charged with executing Virgin Mobile’s $1.5bn IPO. Many senior roles followed including leading the transformational roll out of T-Mobile’s store retail programme.

Having led teams in Marketing, Sales, Finance, Strategic Planning, Business Development and Operations in blue chip telecoms companies, Ernest was headhunted as COO by Lycamobile (the world’s largest international MVNO) to lead its European strategy, successfully expanding into 10 countries within 2 years.  Following this notable success in Europe, Ernest focused on Nigeria’s telecoms sector and was approached to lead a major marketing drive for Etisalat (9Mobile), the 4th entrant in a highly competitive telecoms market. As Marketing Director, he spearheaded a range of initiatives that took Etisalat from the 4th ranked operator to the 2nd, in terms of Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) and active customer base.

Immediately prior to joining ntel, Ernest was a strategic consultant to several blue chip organisations including Blackberry Nigeria, the World  Bank, and most  recently provided strategic oversight to Swazi Mobile in formulating a commercial strategic plan for the successful application of a 4G VoLTE, 3g, 2g licence in Swaziland, South Africa. This has underpinned the impressive growth of Swazi Mobile in less than 3 months of operations.

Ernest is a Fellow of the Chartered Certified Accountants, and holds an MBA from Manchester Business School with a first degree in Economics from UEL.

Reacting, Mr. Akinlola expressed excitement over his appointment as the Managing Director cum Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of ntel, Nigeria’s pre-eminent 4G/LTE network.

“Ntel has tremendous untapped capabilities which can provide a step change in customer experience for Large Enterprise, SME’s and Consumers. I look forward to leading the team in driving innovation and delighting our current and future customers,” he asserted

The Director, External Affairs, ntel, Osondu C. Nwokoro in a press statement made available to ITRealms said that ntel had previously assured stakeholders that the leadership transition from the previous incumbent would be smooth and orderly in accordance with global best practices.


“We are pleased to report that there has been no adverse impact on the business operations and the company would like to thank the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) Mr. Abhulime Ehiagwina, for holding the fort during the transition period,” Nwokoro said.

Pantami assumes office @NITDA, visits Adebayo Shittu

The newly appointed Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, has visited the Minister of Communications, Barrister Abdur-Raheem Adebayo Shittu, within 48 hours of his assumption of duty at the Federal Secretariat, Abuja, reports ITRealms.

Pantami, accompanied by Malam Nafiu Baba-Ahmed and Alhaji Shehu B. Umar during the visit to Shittu, ITRealms recalls  was appointed following the suspension of the former DG, Mr. Peter Jack on January 20, 2016, and appointment of one of the directors in the agency, Dr. Vincent Olatunji as the acting DG pending the appointment of a substantive DG; thus leading to the Federal Governments appointment of some 13 chief executive officers of Ministries, Departments and Agencies including Dr. Pantami on Monday, September 26, 2016.

Dr. Pantami, who is an Associate Professor of Computer Information System at the Islamic University of Madinah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia before his appointment, is the first Nigerian ever to teach in the university of more than 63 years of existence.

He was born and grew up in Gombe State, Nigeria where he obtained his basic education. He completed his first degree in Computer Science in 2002 at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi (ATBA), Master of Science (MSC), Computer Science 2008, Master of Business Admin (MBA) Technology in 2010 from the same university and he obtained his PhD in the United Kingdom.

He was a lecturer at ATBU, Bauchi, for more than a decade before joining Islamic University Madina as Assistant Professor in Computing Systems & Information Technology. He has authored many books on ICT, STEM, Technology, Politics & Community Reconciliation & Religion.

Arik Air confirms readiness to resume operations on Sunday

Arik Air has confirmed its readiness to resume flight services on Sunday, September 23, 2012.
Although this has been in the news, but the management of Arik Air went further to upload a brief message on its website to strengthen what has been in the news.
According to ArikAir,  it was exciting to announce the resumption of flight schedules from Sunday, 23 September and invited potential passengers to book their flights.
"We are happy to inform our passengers that flights will resume from tomorrow, Sunday 23, September, 2012. We invite our respected guests to book their tickets now. Thank you for flying Arik Air," the information pad indicated.
It would be recalled that several information have emerged over why Arik Air suspended services last week, but the most pronounced has been that FAAN employees had protested an indebetedness of N10,000,000, which the management of Arik has since refulted.
