Old students renovate Egba Obafemi Grammar School, management commends - ITREALMS

The authority and management of Egba-Obafemi Community Grammar School (EOCGS) located in Obafemi-Owode local government area of Ogun State have commended old students of the institution for the renovation of the buildings, which include the staff quarters of the school.

The Principals of Senior and Junior School gave the commendation in a letter of appreciation jointly signed by them and forwarded to the old students’ association of the school, which was founded in September 1977.

No deadline on circulation of old Naira notes says CBN - ITREALMS

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has declared that there is no deadline set on the circulation of old Naira notes in the country, reports ITREALMS.
A press statement from CBN, endorsed by the Acting Director, Corporate Communications, Sidi Ali, Hakama (Mrs.) informed ITREALMS that their attention has been drawn to discussions at different fora which suggested that the old series of the N200, N500, and N1,000 banknotes shall cease to be legal tender on December 31, 2024.

The Supreme Court of Nigeria on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, granted the Central Bank of Nigeria extension order on the use of the of old Naira banknotes ad infinitum, reports ITREALMS.

With this, Supreme Court has reaffirmed CBN recent directive on the use of both old and redesigned notes beyond December 31, 2023.

At last, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has unmasked to say that the old N200, N500 and N1000 notes remain legal tender until December 31, 2023, reports

Council of State to CBN: Print more notes, allow old note circulation - ITREALMS

The first meeting of the National Council of State ended on Friday at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with a directive to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to print more new naira notes and make same available to Nigerians to alleviate the current currency scarcity in the country, reports 
ITREALMS.
Also, CBN was advised to allow the circulation of the old naira notes to continue.

Ugbede leads old TJI students to reunion - ITREALMS

The Rector of Times Journalism Institute (TJI) Mr Ndubuisi Ugbede, would Saturday, September 15, lead old students of the renowned journalism school to a reunion session in Lagos, reports ITREALMS.

Confirming this, the interim National Coordinator, Times Journalism Institute (TJI) Alumni Association, Mr. Remmy Nweke, said Ugbede aside confirming attendance, also endorsed the meeting slated to hold at secretariat of Lagos State Council of  Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Iyalla Street, Alausa Ikeja, by 11am this Saturday.

A press statement by the acting Secretary General, Mr Uwem Udofia, quoted the Coordinator as revealing that the reunion has become necessary to bring the best of brains in Journalism and media practice  who passed through TJI together.

This, Nweke, who also is the Group Executive Editor, DigitalSENSE Africa Media, said, would afford young practitioners to learn from their seniors and older colleagues.

In addition, he said it will be a networking platform for all students, urging all former students of TJI to embrace this opportunity to reintegrate themselves in the brotherhood nurtured by this great professional institute.

"Whether you passed through TJI as Post Graduate student or diploma, it's time to reunite and chart a new course," Nweke said.

The alumni association, he said will be an avenue of lifting one another up and giving back to the society.
He further said that the purpose of an association is to foster a spirit of loyalty, and to promote the general welfare of alumni.

"TJI Alumni associations goal is to strengthen the ties between alumni, he asserted, enjoining old students to  leverage the reunion by making themselves available at the Saturday meeting.
