Mshelbila: Gas to play a significant role in Africa’s energy mix - ITREALMS

Natural gas should and will play a significant role in Africa’s energy mix to meet the demands arising from rapid population growth and economic expansion, as well as the need for affordable access to clean energy and supply security for industrialisation, according to Dr. Philip Mshelbila, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG).

Dr. Mshelbila made these remarks during a strategic session at the recently concluded 2023 Gastech Exhibition and Conference in Singapore, where he discussed Africa’s role in increasing supply resilience in the energy transition context. He stated that African gas could enhance global energy security by increasing gas production, ensuring a steady supply source despite rising domestic consumption, and the growth of floating LNG, facilitating the rapid delivery of gas products to the market.

Realnews apps available on Google, Windows play stores

Acclaimed Nigerian-based online publication, the Realnews Magazine, has created an Android and Windows 10 Apps to boost accessibility to readers, reports ITRealms.

The apps, ITRealms are now downloadable via links available in Google and Windows Play stores, which the publishers say afford readers with national, regional and international news and breaking stories.

According to Maureen Chigbo, publisher/editor, Realnews, through the Apps Realnews will be disseminating well investigated stories on national and international issues on oil and gas, business and economic, environment, politics, youth, women and children etc.

“The Android and Window Apps can be downloaded from the Google and Windows Play Stores. Downloading the Apps will enable you access news and breaking stories at any time no matter where you are,” she said.

Further, she said, the Android and Windows, stressing that the new Apps are in line with the vision of the organization to build a reputable world class media institution whose watchword is professionalism and integrity.

“The Apps are part of the overall efforts to increase access and visibility of Realnews,” she said.

Ikeja Electric reaffirms commitment to safety, launches power play

The Ikeja Electric Plc (IE) has taken its safety enlightenment campaign a notch higher with the unveiling of its proprietary board game tagged Power Play, reports ITRealms.
The game, which is novel in the electricity industry is designed as an education and entertainment tool, which provides information relating to hazards and common violations as well as other operational aspects of the business, to customers in IE network, in a family-friendly format.
During the unveiling ceremony, which was held today at the Estate Junior Grammar School, Ijaiye-Ogba, Lagos, the company’sHead of Corporate Communications, Felix Ofulue, noted that the risks and hazards of the electricity sector needed to be communicated in a creative way, such that all customers including family units could embrace tenets of safety and care, while enjoying fun time.
“The changing communications landscape, is a major factor in IE’s quest to seek new and very innovative ways of sharing important messaging that cuts across all customer segment. We have to find creative ways to communicate to all stakeholders in a manner that is both fun and factual. This is why we have createdPower Play©and we hope it will provide helpful information that will reduce accidents, protect from hazards, help provide operational information and even save lives”, he said.
The game which is a registered trademark of Ikeja Electric, is conceptualized and manufactured locally. It comprises a segmented board, dice, tokens and labelled cards with instructions on how to play.
Ofulue pointed out that the choice of the launch location was strategic because it provide a platform to share the educational tool with the students with a view to stimulating their interest to become champions of safety education.
“We are beginning with our secondary school children aswe believe that they will best embrace the knowledge embedded in the game and of course they will champion the fun-learning process in their various families, being at a significant time of their lives where board games are still a thing of interest and adventure”, he pointed out.

ntel’s VOXHD app accessible on Google Play Store

The acclaimed Nigeria’s most advanced 4G/LTE network provider, ntel, has made its high definition Voice Over (VOXHD) application now accessible on Google Play Store, reports ITRealms.

The Voice Over LTE (VoLTE) application allow customers who have 4G/LTE devices supported on the ntel network, to experience the unique voice service provided by ntel.

Speaking on the launch of the application, Kamar Abass, ntel Chief Executive Officer said “This is the first time a Voice Over LTE application that is native to a Nigerian network is being hosted on Google Play Store.”

As said by him, “The application avails our customers of crystal clear high definition VoLTE calls, Short Message Service (SMS over LTE) as well as other traditional features expected from a cellular voice service. With this application, our customers can make and receive HD voice calls, send and receive SMS on their ntel line, with any compatible 4G device, anywhere within our coverage areas.”

ITRealms gathered that to download the application, subscribers should type "ntel VOXHD" on the relevant Google Play Store page.

Further, Abass said that ntel is committed to improving user experience by deploying cutting edge technology in its service delivery.

He explained that the ntel VOXHD application is currently compatible with devices running on Android Operating Systems versions from Android 5.X.

Stressing that ntel is also working to integrate the Apple iOS version shortly for the benefit of Apple iPhone users.


“Updates on this will be provided regularly on our website,” he assured, emphasizing that ntel's VOXHD is compatible with only ntel SIM cards to the exclusion of other networks.
