The Computer Security Incident Response Team (NCC-CSIRT) of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has warned those looking to acquire pirated software and resources that they risk becoming victims of cybercriminal gangs that are using AI-generated YouTube videos to distribute malware, reports

Also, NCC-CSIRT warned in its advisory that the consequences of falling victim can be significant for individuals and organizations, resulting in critical damage like data theft, financial loss, identity theft, system damage, and reputation damage.

NCC-CSIRT issues advisories to protect Nigerians against threat actors - ITREALMS

The Nigerian Communications Commission's Computer Security Incident Response Team (NCC-CSIRT), in line with its mandate, has rolled out some advisories in the first few weeks of the year 2023 as cyber threat actors continue to devise means of compromising their targets.
The latest of such advisories urged users to be mindful after attackers use Microsoft OneNote attachments in phishing emails that infect victims with remote access malware, which may allow hackers to remotely access vital information on victims' devices.

Over 300,000 Android devices under attack says NCC-CSIRT - ITREALMS

A malware that steals Facebook account credentials, known as "Schoolyard Bully", has infected over 300,000 android devices, prompting the Nigerian Communications Commission's Computer Security Incident Response Team (NCC-CSIRT) to issue an advisory reminding user to only download applications from official sites and application stores.

Director, Public Affairs, Reuben Muoka in a press statement available to ITREALMS quoted NCC-CSIRT advisory in this regard as further recommending that users double-check each application and uncheck boxes that request extra third-party downloads when installing apps downloaded from the Google Play Store and to use anti-malware applications to routinely scan their devices for malware.

The Nigerian Communications Commission's Computer Security Incident Response Team (NCC-CSIRT) has advised users of messaging app, especially Telegram to immediately adopt two-factor authentication, reports

ITREALMS, noted this caution is in response to the discovery of a new attack that compromises victims’ Virtual Private Network (VPN) accounts mostly on Telegram.

NCC-CSIRT cautions on Blackbyte ransomware on legit driver - ITREALMS

The Nigerian Communications Commission's Computer Security Incident Response Team (NCC-CSIRT) has flagged a high-impact threat to Windows operating system, the Blackbyte Ransomware, which has the capacity to bypass protections by disabling more than 1,000 drivers used by various security solutions.
The Director, Public Affairs at NCC, Mr. Reuben Muoka in a press statement available to ITREALMS, quoted the CSIRT unit as saying that the BlackByte ransomware gang, which is using a new technique that researchers called, "Bring Your Own Vulnerable Driver," is exploiting the security issue that allowed it to disable drivers that prevent multiple Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) and antivirus products like Avast, Sandboxie, Windows DbgHelp Library, and Comodo Internet Security, from operating normally.

Privacy: NCC-CSIRT flags ‘HiddenAds’ malware - ITREALMS

The Nigerian Communications Commission's Computer Security Incident Response Team (NCC-CSIRT) has flagged a new malware, HiddenAds, which has infiltrated Google Play Store that can impact device performance and jeopardize users’ privacy.

In its advisory of August 8, 2022, NCC-CSIRT classified the virus, first identified by the McAfee Mobile Research Team, as high in probability and damage potential.
