Innovectives Roadmap for Financial Inclusion for 2019 - ITREALMS

Commentary@ITREALMS:
As a third generation and last mile FinTech Company, 2018 was an interesting and affirmative year for us at Innovectives. We reflected on our journey in this recent past year and feel we should share our experience and learning with you.

2018 was the year we travelled far and wide to many of the rural and semi-rural communities in our country where more than half of our population still reside, in order to better understand the distinct peculiarities affecting consumption of organized financial services.

On these trips we came face to face with the gaping needs and how they have crippled the micro economy. We identified the lack of fit-for-purpose and sustainable initiatives to stimulate the demand side of digital financial services. The disproportionately higher number of financially excluded, economically active adults and non-existent access to credit to the productive segment of our society, were indicators that we had to raise our game.

These gaps are not new but the scale and impact on the micro economy calls for intentional and systematic interventions.

Back home, within the organization, 2018 was the year we were able to affirm the agility of our integrated and aggregative strategy for agency banking business through our participation in the Shared Agent Network Expansion Facility (SANEF), a project powered by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Bankers Committee and NIBSS.

We opted to build an integrated shared agent banking platform that is Financial Institution agnostic because we believe a financial super highway would serve the interest of the customers and service the people better.

In 2018, we wereable to increase the number of FIs and NFIs connected toKesh Express, our agency banking platform, from four to seventeen. Today, Kesh Express is connected toZenith, GTBank, Access Bank, Stanbic IBTC, UBA, Ecobank and Cowries Microfinance Bank. Wema, Sterling and Jaiz Banks will be live in two weeks. We also connected to NIPOST IFS, Angaza, Masterpass, mVisa, Quickteller, NIBSS and Remita platforms.

Our target for 2019 is to achieve 100% connection to all retail-focused deposit money banks, major micro-finance banks and international remittance platforms.

Yes! Remittance platforms…. We want our agents to be able to pay out Western Union and MoneyGram money transfers from their shops in 2019.

We have been able to recruit over 25,000 agents across the 36 states, out of which over 10,000 agents are connected and actively carrying out financial transactions for customers on our platform. Our plan for 2019 is to speed up agents onboarding process and therefore increase the number of activated agents from 10,000 to 50,000.

Amongst several other services, our agents have been able to open over 750,000 bank accounts for various banks connected to our aggregated, integrated and shared Kesh Express agent platform.

Our minimum target in 2019 is for our agents to open over 5 million accounts for our bank partners and recruit over 50,000 new merchants.

To address the challenges of inadequate floats, we commenced a micro-credit scheme for our agents in Q4 of 2018. We have supported our agents with over N30,000,000 and recorded zero default. Our plan in 2019 is to support our agents with N1.5 billion flexible interest loans.

Last year, we recorded over 1.2 million transactions and were able to drive transactions worth over N800,000,000 on our agency banking platform. Our target for 2019 is to record 10 million transactions worth N10 billion.

At the end of 2019 we believe we will have many more insights to share as we drive the mission to the next level. I encourage you to stay with us on what promises to be an exciting journey. Please keep an eye on our blog for new quarterly updates.

Very best wishes in 2019.

*Emmanuel Agha is the Chief Executive

Redcloud partners Innovectives to drive agency banking

Enterprise software provider of leading mobile financial services technology, RedCloud Technologies, has signed a partnership agreement with Innovectives LLC to deploy its cloud based solution for agency banking across Nigeria, in conjunction with its partner, TSI Global Technologies, reports ITRealms.

According to Katia Hill, the chief operating officer, RedCloud, the alliance would enable Nigerian banks, mobile operators and other financial institutions to grow their business and improve customer experience in the market by reaching users in remote areas, offering customer registration and giving over-the-counter customer financial transactions such as utility bill payment, airtime top-up and other innovative financial services.

“Being able to align ourselves with an organisation like Innovectives, truly supports our commitment to enable banks to reach more customers and offer innovative and convenient financial services. This cooperation is a stepping stone for RedCloud in Nigeria, where much is still to be made for financial inclusion.”

Already, Innovectives has an existing network of over 1000 agents comprising small and established institutions such as retailers, petrol stations, and service providers. The goal is to reach over one thousands institutions in the next five years in order to achieve its vision of being the leading integrated fintech company contributing at least 30% in the market.

Nigeria’s move to enhance financial inclusion as set by the Central Bank of Nigeria [CBN] includes the issuance of two licenses to Innovectives Limited. Operating as Super Agents within the financial system, the company will deploy, operate and manage interoperable agency banking and mobile financial payment networks as approved by the CBN with selected retail outlets operating as agents under the framework.

The World Bank has reported that the ten countries with one of the highest proportion of residents living unbanked in extreme poverty are located in Sub-Saharan Africa. Even remotely, mobile financial usage is more widespread than having a bank account.

Agency Banking benefits in Nigeria, she explained would include removing intermediary agents as well as speeding up processes and waiting periods. The reduction in cumbersome processes gives greater levels of global flexibility and efficiency daily operations as well as improving bank’s global profile, status and presence.

MD/CEO, Innovectives, Emmanuel Agha, said, “Our choice for RedCloud was based on their proven expertise in financial services and agents management in emerging markets. Their product readiness, flexibility and configurability allow us to deploy our services throughout our agent’s networks and set-up tailored agent hierarchy and fees management to suit the specificities of our business.”

RedCloud One platform would connect to Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) to access all licensed banks and financial service providers in Nigeria and provide complete interoperability to Innovectives network of agents. RedCloud is supported by its local partner TSI Global Technologies for integration, deployment and support services. TSI Global Technologies has already helped many Financial Institutions in the area of integration and its core operations. Its consultants have been involved in a number of Apex banks integration in the subregion.

Why Innovectives partnered MasterCard, UBA, Konga on e-Commerce - Agha

The certified mobile point of sale [mPOS] service provider, Innovectives has explained why the firm is collaborating with the trio of MasterCard, United Bank for Africa (UBA) and Konga on e-commerce, reports ITRealms.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive officer, Innovectives, Mr. Emmanuel Agha, gave this explanation, saying the company was created as a seamless delivery and payment system by integrating mPOS solution into Konga's services.

“Payments on mPOS are 100 per cent secure. It is accepted on all local and international cards,” he said, stressing that Kesh mPOS, powered by Innovectives and supported by MasterCard and UBA will make it easier for Konga customers to pay for their orders and enhance payment acceptance while making reconciliation easy for Konga customers and sales agents.

The new mPOS, he also said, accepts MasterCard, Visa and Verve cards from all banks, and it enables Konga delivery agents to easily capture sales. Just as other cards accepted on mPOS are UnionPay, Freedom Card and Genesis cards.

“Customers can also confirm payments on the spot thus improving accountability in e-commerce transactions,” Agha assured.

Emphasising that the level of e-commerce transactions conducted in Nigeria in the past three years has increased exponentially but the challenge is that 95 per cent of the transactions are pay-on-delivery, which largely involve settling with cash.

“Our mPOS solution is designed to improve the delivery process and reduce cash handling in the entire order fulfilment process as well as make reconciliation seamless" he said, adding that the company has partnered with Konga and integrated the innovative payment solution because it offers Nigerians who are increasingly shopping online sheer convenience. MPOS offers a significant improvement in transparency in the way customers pay for their goods.

Konga has adopted convenient, cutting edge and secure payment solutions to reduce cash handling and enhance the shopping experience for its customers.

For the Divisional Head, Digital Banking, UBA, Dr. Yinka Adedeji explained that Konga delivery would be able to accept payments from a phone like POS terminal. “UBA is powering this with its advanced digital payments technology.”
