Oby Ezekwesili to keynote Realnews 5th lecture

The former World Bank Vice President and past Nigerian minister of education, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, has been confirmed to deliver the keynote address at the Fifth Anniversary Lecture of Realnews Magazine, reports ITRealms.

The lecture, ITRealms gathered, has been scheduled to hold on Thursday, November 16, 2017, at the Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, by 10 am.

Publisher of Realnews Magazine Online, Maureen Chigbo, confirmed this to ITRealms, saying that Ezekwesili, who is the co-founder of Transparency International, will speak on “African Leadership in a Turbulent Era”. 

She will be delivering the lecture barely a month after the Sweden-based International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) appointed her along with Kofi Annan, former United Nations secretary general among others  as  an Ambassador to champion the study on Global State of Democracy. 

Chigbo stressed that Ezekwesili will be the first female to give the Realnews Anniversary Lecture series which was established to celebrate the best minds in our society and tap into their repository of knowledge to enrich the discourse on national and international development. 

Realnews past anniversary lecturers included Dr. Ibn Mohamed Chambers, United Nations Secretary General’s special representative to West African and Sahel (2016); Professor Chukwuma Soludo, former governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, (2015) and Professor Maurice Iwu, former chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, (2014).


Chigbo said that the lecture will bring together many policy and decision makers from the private and public sectors as well as non-governmental organizations and the media.

Adesina, Dakuku-Peterside, Eresia-Eke to join Uwazurike @News Express 5th lecture

All is now set for the fifth anniversary lecture of the News Express slated for Thursday at September 28, 2017, at Sheraton Hotel & Towers, Ikeja, Lagos, with a line up of dignitaries, reports ITRealms.

The management of News Express listed confirmed dignitaries for the lecture to include Presidential spokesman, Mr. Femi Adesina; Director-General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dakuku Peterside; General Manager, External Relations, Nigeria LNG Limited, Dr. Kudo Eresia-Eke; eminent lawyer and President Emeritus of Aka Ikenga, Chief Goddy Uwazurike; and General Manager, NTA Lagos Channel 10, Mrs. Helen Onma Odeleye.

ITRealms had earlier reported that Chairman of Zinox Technologies Limited, Leo Stan Eke, and United Nations Security Coordination Officer, Francis T. Okoemu, had earlier confirmed that they would attend the well-advertised lecture.  

The event would be headlined by the Guest Lecturer, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State, who would speak on “National Unity and the Demand for Restructuring — A Governor’s Perspective.”

The Managing Director of Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA), Hon. Emmanuel Jime, would deliver the keynote address on the topic, “Using the Platform of Public Office to Reclaim the Promise of Our Destiny”.

News Express Publisher Isaac Umunna said that the lecture would start from 12pm prompt, disclosing that “one of the highlights of the occasion would be the unveiling of the new logo of News Express.”

Okoemu, UN expert for News Express 5th lecture

The United Nations Security Coordination Officer, Francis T. Okoemu, has confirmed his attendance at the News Express 5th Anniversary Lecture holding on Thursday, September 28, 2017, at Sheraton Hotel & Towers, Ikeja, Lagos, reports ITRealms.

Mr. Okoemu, a counter-terrorism expert who worked in the United Kingdom before joining the UN staff,, confirmed his attendance in an e-mail message to News Express Publisher Isaac Umunna. A statement issued on Saturday by Umunna quoted him as saying: “Yes, I will be in Nigeria for the News Express 5th Anniversary Lecture. It is something I want to be part of because News Express is a paper for which I have great respect.” 

A widely travelled Nigerian expatriate, Mr. Okoemu holds a BA Degree in Contemporary Military and International History,  a Master’s Degree in Terrorism and Security Studies, and PGD in Intelligence and Security Studies,  both awarded by the University of Salford, Manchester, UK. He has attended counter-terrorism courses in Israel, the United States of America, and other security courses in the UK, which include close protection, intelligence gathering and terrorism threat and response. He is a member of the UK’s Security Industry Authority (SIA) and was Chairman/CEO, Blackwell Security Consultancy, UK Ltd, before he was hired by the UN in 2015.

Mr. Okoemu joins a growing list of important personalities who have confirmed attendance at the News Express 5th Anniversary Lecture. The Guest Speaker, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, Executive Governor of Niger State, will speak on “National Unity and the Demand for Restructuring — A Governor’s Perspective”.

The Lecture, starting from 12 p.m. prompt, will be chaired by Dr. Leo Stan Ekeh, Chairman of foremost Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Company, Zinox Technologies Ltd., and pioneer of online publishing in Nigeria.

Zinox chairman, Ekeh to preside News Express 5th lecture

The Nigerian serial Information and Communication Technology (ICT) entrepreneur, Dr. Leo Stan Ekeh has been confirmed to preside the News Express 5th anniversary lecture scheduled to hold at Sheraton Hotel & Towers, Ikeja, Lagos, on Thursday, September 28, 2017, reports ITRealms.

Confirming this to ITRealms on Saturday in Lagos, the publisher by News Express, Isaac Umunna, expressed delight on the choice of Ekeh.
