The DigitalSENSE Africa Team @ITREALMS Media Group expresses deep shock and heavy hearts as we mourn the passing of our dear colleague, brother, and veteran journalist, Oladotun Samson Oladipo.
Dotun was far more than a celebrated publisher and former President of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP); he was a pillar of support and a dependable ally across the Nigerian media ecosystem.
For years, Dotun’s commitment to industry growth was displayed through his unwavering presence at our annual flagships; the Nigeria DigitalSENSE Forum (NDSF) on Internet Governance for Development and the ITREALMS E-Waste Dialogue. Dotun did not merely grace these events as an attendee; he immersed himself in the deliberations, enriched the discussions, and exemplified absolute professionalism.
Even on tight schedules, Dotun’s courtesy was legendary; he would call ahead if delayed, arrive with warmth, capture key moments himself, and ensure immediate, robust coverage across the GOCOP platform before departing the venue.
His dedication to driving digital policy, environmental awareness, and media excellence was matched only by his generous spirit and deep respect for colleagues.
Seeing the final obsequies and funeral arrangements brings the painful realization that our dear brother is indeed gone.
His transition leaves an irreplaceable void in our hearts, our newsrooms, and the broader online publishing landscape.
