In a significant move toward regional stability, the pan-Igbo non-political, socio-cultural organization Njiko Igbo has issued a formal appreciation to youth groups and security stakeholders for the unprecedented peace recorded across Igboland during the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year celebrations, reports ITREALMS.
In a statement obtained exclusively by ITREALMS Online, the group’s leadership noted that for the first time in several years, the region witnessed a remarkable level of calm that allowed families and those in the diaspora to travel and celebrate without the usual shadow of fear or insecurity.
The letter, signed by Apostle (Dr). Daniel Obi on behalf of the chairman, specifically thanked community-based organizations, non-state actors, and youth movements for honoring the request to sheath their swords.
The organization highlighted that the thriving markets and peaceful church services witnessed over the holidays serve as a clear blueprint for the future of the Igboland, proving that progress is possible when coordination and community consciousness are prioritized over confrontation.
To ensure this tranquility is not a temporary occurrence, Njiko Igbo is urging all stakeholders to maintain a peace-first approach.
This strategy, they said, is built on the protection of innocent lives, respect for traditional institutions, and a firm commitment to lawful engagement.
The leadership emphasized that the collective aspirations of the Igbo people, including justice, dignity, and equity, cannot be achieved through internal strife or the destruction of their own land.
The organization issued a passionate plea to the youth to channel their energy into productive and future-oriented engagements, asserting that peace is not weakness and dialogue is not surrender.
They called on all sons and daughters of Igboland to lay down arms, reject violence, and protect the region from further economic decline and generational trauma.
