In a renewed push for inter-agency synergy, the Comptroller of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Port Harcourt Area I Command, Comptroller Salamatu Atuluku, has paid courtesy visits to key sister agencies in Rivers State, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), reports ITREALMS.
During the visit to the Immigration Service and NAFDAC Port Inspection Directorate, Comptroller Atuluku emphasized the shared mandate of all border-related agencies in safeguarding the nation’s frontiers and promoting legitimate trade.
“Effective border management depends on continuous cooperation, communication, and intelligence sharing between sister agencies,” she said.
The Comptroller of Immigration, Y.I. Abdulhajeed, described the visit as “timely and commendable,” while NAFDAC’s Deputy Director, Pharm. Adepoju Bayo Raufu, highlighted existing cooperation that has helped intercept fake and substandard goods.
At the NDLEA Rivers Command, Comptroller Atuluku also met with Commander Ahmed Mamuda, where both agencies reaffirmed commitment to joint operations and intelligence sharing in the fight against drug trafficking and other cross-border crimes.
“Customs and NDLEA share a common responsibility to protect our nation from illicit substances and prohibited goods,” Atuluku said.
Commander Mamuda praised the visit as a mark of proactive leadership, assuring that NDLEA would sustain close collaboration with Customs.
Comptroller Atuluku reiterated that synergy among security and regulatory agencies remains vital for national security, economic growth, and safer trade environments.
