The program aims to address the growing concerns of unemployment among young people in the constituency.

Hon. Afinni expressed his concern about the high rate of unemployment among youths in his constituency, stating that many graduates have approached him for employment opportunities.

The program, titled "Employability Training and Job Fair," is designed to equip 200 youths from Lagos Island Constituency 11 with the necessary skills and knowledge to secure employment. The program will cover soft skills, employability skills, and provide participants with the opportunity to meet with prospective employers.

The programme, ITREALMS gathered would run for a month, from July 2-30, in three phases, namely the orientation/training for participants; preparation/attending job interviews; and job fair.

The Employability Project Officer at LSETF, Ajibola Babalola, emphasized that the program aims to bridge the skill gap among young people, enabling them to effectively communicate their skills to potential employers.

The chairman of the Afinni Youth Development and Employment Committee, Wale Salawe, highlighted the importance of the program in providing youths with the necessary skills and knowledge to secure employment.

One of the facilitators, Yeyemide Fabanwo, a Human Resource expert at Unilever Plc, noted that the program is a step in the right direction, emphasizing the need for continuous learning and skill development in the evolving world of employment.

Some participants also expressed optimism about the program, highlighting the benefits of the training on self-awareness, CV writing, and job readiness.

ITREALMS further gathered that by providing a platform for youths to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge, the Afinni Job Ready Program aims to reduce unemployment gaps among Lagos Island 11 youths and empower them for gainful employment.
