e-CMR: Motorists berate FG, Nigeria Police – ITREALMS

ITREALMS ... making leadership SENSE with digital news!

Following the confirmation of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) commencement of the implementation of the upgraded electronic Central Motor Registry (e-CMR), Nigerian motorists, have berated the Federal Government (FG) and Police particularly, reports ITREALMS.

The motorists who took to social media in reactions blamed FG for policy somersaults and NPF for lack of cohesion.

Those who commented on X (formerly Twitter) like @udinwenyi lamented that “Everything in Nigeria is being duplicated to extort money” from the masses and wondered why Nigeria does not have a central database for all the registered cars? “Why does the citizens have to register another one with the police for easy tracking?”

For Adewale 'Damilare @dammygtnet “Why is it that there is only two means of identification? Why isn’t passport listed as a means of identification?”

@JosephOnuorah, said that Nigeria police should implement law of CCTV cameras in every nook and cranny in city with watchdog for everyone safety including police officer images.

Mudiaga Esiekpe @MudiagaEsiekpe described as amazed as to why Nigerian Police did not have this data; what was all the registration with National ID for; when a car is purchased newly. Arguing that this validates the fact that there are many agencies of government with silo databases, which must first be agreed upon on how these datas integrate with each other.

For Nur' Olaide Adesoye @Olaide_Adesoye, there are “So much gathering of data and payment by government agencies, that only one agency can gather and others can request for it when needed. Olaide listed some of them to include NIN, BVN, Biometrics, e-CMR, no country develops if all its agencies do is duplicating roles or policies and burdening citizens unnecessarily.

Adeyemi Emmanuel O. @kipsyprince lamented that he has been on the site to register his vehicle for days now, “I am stuck at a stage to confirm my phone number and email address. The site is non-responsive.”

Even as @Princemoye1 said they are getting errors to set up, and suggested that the IT professionals correct this as soon as possible.

While Onungene Ezechukwu @ezechukwumicha4 opined that “If properly monitored and put into use, this is laudable.” Whereas Jiji Chinwendu @JijiChinwendu also applauded the initiative but the timeliness and advised that “let your officers know that this is just coming to us and we will require some time to get it done. Also considering network failures as this is an online procedure.

However, Ekene @ieeson16d said “But if you ask me, this should have been optional, no be all of us get 'thiefable' cars.” Just as SheriSho @sheri_sho asked ”What is the difference between proof of ownership and CMR? Is it not suppose to be augmented in Proof of Ownership?”

Further, Karo @Karo_simon decried that already, “Vehicle registration offices are already exploiting those who want to register vehicles with this (CMR) and proof of ownership. They are charging couple of thousands.”

Michael @Michealudo123 sees introduction of eCMR as “Another scamming scheme” Stressing that this year, yearly proof of ownership was introduced. How much will someone pay for a car to have identification?

Oakangbe @oakangbe1 marvel at how does the datas collected so far have given boost to security system. “Starting from nin, tin, bvn, etc. now this. Very soon, another one will still come out, all in the name of raising revenue, but they won't tell you that; they'll tell you what you want to hear.”

For Kayostik 🇳🇬 @koyedele2 “Na wa for this country, e-cmr? Is this not similar to the just implemented yearly proof of ownership Lagos state asking the car owners to be paying? Can't all these papers be harmonized into one?

“1. Lagos state papers. 2. Police papers. 3. Federal gov. 4. Custom papers... kilode,” wondered Kayodele.

Dobar dan, moj upit o tome kako dobiti kredit za kupnju kuće od nekretnina počeo je pozivom, nazvao sam Davidson Albert Company, danas sam jako sretan i Bog blagoslovio Davidsona Alberta Kontakt e-mail: {Davidsonalbertloan@gmail.com }
