Odeh advises CSOs on navigating grant landscape in Nigeria - ITREALMS

The Country Director, Accountability Lab Nigeria, Mr. Odeh Friday Odeh has outlined steps to effectively navigate grant landscape by civil society organisations (CSOs) in Nigeria, reports

Speaking at the Peer Learning Session organised by the Open Alliance Nigeria, where he dwelt on “Navigating the Grant Landscape in Nigeria: Grant sources, Grant Access & Resource Mobilization.”

According to him, grant readiness checklist is crucial and should encompasses grant research, partnership development, capacity building and grant proposal writing.

He stressed that grant research, will involve conducting thorough research to identify relevant grant opportunities for your organization, while the partnership development, avails the potential grantee to cultivate strategic partnerships to leverage resources and enhance their grant applications.

On the capacity building, Odeh underlined the fact that investment in organizational capacity building will enhance readiness for grant applications.

Just as the grant proposal writing, Odeh said, would enable participants to develop compelling grant proposals that effectively communicate their organizational goals and impact.

The country director of Accountability Lab equally offered some grant application tips and tricks including the research and targeting, effective communication, peer review and feedback as well as navigating challenges.

“Learn how to identify the most suitable grants for your organization and tailor your proposals to meet the specific requirements of each funding opportunity,” he said.

In addition, he said that enhancement of grant application communication skills, discovery of strategies to effectively convey organization's mission, goals, and impact to reviewers remain integral part of effective communication.

“Utilize peer review and feedback mechanisms to strengthen your grant applications. Learn how to leverage the insights and expertise of your peers to improve your proposals,” he said.
