Igwe Ofemili marks iri ji festival in style, lawmakers, others grace occasion - ITREALMS

His Royal Highness (HRH), Igwe Ezekwesili Maduagwuna, Ofemili 1 of Awba-Ofemili, recently celebrated the traditional new yam (Iri Ji) ceremony, at his palace in Awba-Ofemili, reports ITREALMS.

Disclosing this in Awba-Ofemili, Igwe Maduagwuna said the ceremony was to thank God, not only for the flood, which has receded significantly, but for also for little bounty harvest that has kept the community going and the prevailing peace.

This came as dignitaries thronged into the peaceful town to pay homage to Igwe Ofemili, including the lawmaker, representating Awka North Constituency at the State House of Assembly, Hon. John Nwokoye and Ekuweme of Awba-Ofemili.

Elated Igwe, warmly received all visitors and dignitaries and expressed gratitude for their honouring his Iri Ji ceremony this year.

He singled out Hon. Nwokoye for his consistent solidarity in the affairs of Awba-Ofemili and its people and urged him to maintain his good work to make Awka North a better place.

ITREALMS gathered that candidates of the Labour Party (LP), All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were present during the Iri ji ceremony.

Accompanying Hon. Nwokoye also known as 'More Money' at the occasion were the Director-General (DG) of his Campaign Organization, High Chief Jude Nwokolo, Onowu Ugbenu; Hon. Nwokike Ezeanya, Chairman Awka North Liberation Movement; Hon. Chinedu Okadigbo, Executive Assistant to the Governor on Legislative Matters; Comrade ChrisMary Chigozie Okafor, Youth Leader Campaign Organization; Princess Ngozi Jeff Egwu, LG Woman Coordinator; PDP Stakeholders amongst others.
