The Wellness Plus official app has made its debut in Lagos, reports 
ITREALMS.
The app owned by Wellness HMO is expected to revolutionise the way Nigerians access health services in the country.
The chairman, Board of Wellness HMO, Chief Mobolaji Ayorinde said at the launch held in Sheraton Ikeja, with the theme as “Power of Choose” that the product promises to assist in the delivery of quality health care in the country and urged guests to become ambassadors of the Wellness HMO especially on this product by spreading the goodness based on the benefits it comes with.

He pointed out that Wellness HMO is moving with technology to reach out to the people and to also put Nigerians on a level of coverage, whether private or public, thus efforts are on to get Nigerians covered.

Also speaking, the Executive Secretary, NHIS, Dr. Berthwell Kashimu Abraham, applauded the firm for the step taken to leverage innovation through a channel that is easier for the large percentage of Nigerians.

Delivering a keynote as a special guest, on "Adoption of Technology in Reducing Non - Communicable Diseases (NCDs)" Prof. Chimezie Anyakora emphasised that nowadays, people are now aware of their health-ownership more than ever before.

He stressed that some N41 million people die annually of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and by 2030 the deaths resulting from NCDs will increase, insisting that ownership of one’s health is very important.

NCDs, he pointed out, are expected to be leading cause of death in Africa; exceeding deaths caused by communicable, maternal, perinatal, and nutritional diseases combined.

“Africa, therefore, seems to be on the verge of an NCD epidemic,” he said, highlighting that technology can be considered as a support for health through.

Some of the benefits include by giving effective and highly quality care, brings a centred-monitoring care, paves room for pro-active care and virtual visits. Maintaining that technology should be used to marshal health issues in the society. Everybody should get insured & measures put in place to curb the spread of NCDs.
