Prof Ayo Ibidapo-Obe is dead over COVID-19 complications - ITREALMS

The Professor of Systems Engineering and former Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Professor Oyewusi Ibidapo-Obe, has reportedly died of Coronavirus (COVID-19) complications, reports ITREALMS.

Ibidapo-Obe, ITREALMS gathered had died in the night of Sunday, January, 2021.
“The former University don passed away on Sunday, 3rd January 2020,” according to a Vanguard report.

Born in July 1951, Professor Obe was UNILAG VC from 2000 to 2007.

Until his death on Sunday night, January 3, 2021, Prof Ibidapo-Obe, was former President of the Nigeria Academy of Science (NAS).

He attended both Ilesa Grammar School and Igbobi College from 1962 – 1968 and the University of Lagos from 1968 – 1971.

He was awarded a Bachelor of Science [B.Sc.(Hons)] degree in Mathematics in the First Class Division by the University of Lagos, Nigeria in 1971; a Master of Mathematics [M. Maths] degree in Applied Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science in 1973 and a Doctor of Philosophy {PhD} in Civil Engineering with specialization in Applied Mechanics/Systems in 1976 both from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. 

Prof. Obe had authored and co-authored several books including "Industrial Control Systems: Mathematical and Statistical Modes and Techniques" in 2011, while he also co-authored "Manufacturing and Enterprise, an integrated systems approach" in 2018, to name but a few.

He was born on July 5 1949; married to Olusola and has four children.
