Anambra Police arrest 26-yr for killing own father - ITREALMS

The Anambra State Police command has arrested one 26-year-old Chisom Ogum of Umuomaku Community in Orumba South LGA of Anambra State for allegedly killing his father, reports

His arrest, ITREALMS gathered was achieved due to collaboration between the Umunze Police Division with the local vigilante group on Saturday, September 26, 2020.

The young man was reported to have run amok in a circumstance yet to be ascertained and attacked and killed his 70 year old biological father, Christopher Ogum with a shovel and buried him thereafter in a shallow grave.

The suspect reportedly “attempted to escape before he was apprehended and beaten thoroughly by angry mob who forced him to exhume the corpse from where he buried it.

The Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO) in the state, SP Mohammed Haruna, said detectives visited the crime scene, photographed the body of late Mr Ogum and took it to the mortuary for autopsy after a medical doctor at Umunze general hospital certified him dead.

“Recovered also was the offensive weapon used in perpetrating the crime,” he said.

The PPRO also disclosed, has been transferred to the State Criminal investigative Department (CID) Awka for discreet investigation, after which he will be prosecuted.
