Lagos NCS demands office space @Digital Village - ITREALMS

The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) Lagos Chapter, has demanded for an office space at the Lagos State-owned Digital Village, reports ITREALMS.

Digital Village building,
ITREALMS gathered is at the back of Alausa Shopping Mall also known as Shoprite, which is in a strategic location good for organizing activities.

Otunba APS Arogundade, President, Information Technology Systems and Security Professionals (ITSSP) made this request on behalf of the chapter in his speech at 2019 Information Technology (IT) Conference and Award in Lagos.

The Lagos NCS chapter, he said, has used the hall for its conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM) previously, noting that having an administrative office at the Digital Village will add value to the structure and NCS respectively.

“We feel that having an operational office in the premises, having the address of the building on the chapter's letterheads and having the address on call cards will drive more IT personnel and activities to the digital hub,” he pointed out.

Arogundade commended Lagos State for recognising the certification of the Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN) by placing whoever has it on Grade Level 10 across board in the state.

He also requested that such gesture be extended to those IT professionals at the Local Governments and Local Council Development Authorities (LCDAs) need your assistance.

According to him, the Local Government is the closest to the people and as such, in this 21st century, LGs in Lagos State should have departments of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) where the professional IT staff will serve.

“The report we have is that these our colleagues are programme analysts but posted to the Budget and Planning Department with no clear IT related job description, and when they get to Level 12 or thereabout, they leave the Computing profession by converting to other cadres that could guarantee them better recognition as they progress in LG system,” he lamented.
