Adedapo to organise science quiz competition in Osun - ITREALMS

Committed to ramp up interest of students in science, a philanthropist, Engr. Ademola Adedapo has scheduled an inter-school competition for students in Osun State, reports ITREALMS.

The first, second and third stages of the quiz competition has been slated for 6th, 13th and 21st March, 2019 respectively.

The competition, which is one of Adedapo's way of giving back to the society, is targeted at making tremendous progress in improving the standard of the state's education.

According to the organiser, the quiz session will pitch secondary school students from the ten (10) local governments in Osun West, whose knowledge on science related topics will be put to test.

Mr. Kabiru Adisa, who is the coordinator of the competition, spoke glowingly of the Engr Adedapo's vision to improve learning among pupils across the state, adding that there are plans to extend the competition to every part of the state and beyond.

He disclosed that students who perform well will be rewarded with series of prizes. According to him, the first three best performer will get a branded laptop each, while the first, second, and third position, will get N250,000.00, N150,000.00 and N100,000.00 respectively.

Mr. Kabiru added that Engr. Adedapo will equip selected schools of participating students with modern laboratories equipment.

He lamented the dearth of interest towards science, stating that science is key to the future and Engr. Adedapo would continue to support students to excel in their studies and become a great asset for Osun and Nigeria as a whole in no distant future.

“The Education sector is quite poor when you leave the highbrow areas,” he lamented, positing that “Hence Engr. Adedapo is organising this competition in order to expose them to the opportunities science could offer.

"He (Engr. Adedapo) understand how science is crucial to the advancement of any nation and he's willing to do his bit to contribute to the students growth, seeing to it that the future leaders are given the needed help to develop."
