With enabling support, Zinox can compete with world’s best - Shittu, Comm. Minister

The Honourable Minister of Communications, Barrister Abdur-Raheem Adebayo Shittu, has eulogized Zinox Group, saying the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) company has what it takes to compete favourably with the world’s most renowned conglomerates, if given the enabling environment and relevant support, reports ITRealms.

The minister made this assertion during a one-day working visit to Zinox headquarters in Gbagada=Lagos on Monday after a guided tour of the company led by its group chairman, Dr. Leo-Stan Ekeh, to expose him first-hand on how various infrastructure and facilities within the premises including the digital computer hardware manufacturing and assembly plant, telecoms e-Hub unit, Data Centre, bandwidth aggregation and digital security infrastructures, warehousing resources in addition to after-sales service and support centre, to name a few.

Speaking after the tour, Mr. Shittu commended the huge capabilities, human capital potential and technological proficiency on display in the various facilities, expressing confidence in the ability of Zinox Group to hold its own against ICT giants from other parts of the world.

"I have embarked on similar visits to organizations abroad but what I have seen today gives me huge confidence in the ability of our serious local companies to do the country proud even when bench-marked against other companies on the world stage. It is clear with the huge investment I have seen here that the Zinox Group is highly focused and committed to raising the standards in the country.

"Although I have known Leo Stan Ekeh for a relatively short period of time, his story is one that I am very familiar with in the last 20 years, especially as it mirrors that of the Chinese tech giants Huawei.

"Like Zinox, Huawei's amazing rise is down to the vision of one man who grew the company from a position of obscurity to one with a turnover of over $56 billion in 2015. One thing the founder did which proved to be a master-stroke was in his commitment to his staff by making every one of them a shareholder in the company.

"I must commend Leo Stan as I have witnessed the relationship you enjoy with your colleagues and your commitment to helping them grow.

"From my tour round the structures, I have also seen enough to assure me that, with the right support from the government, the Zinox Group can be a name we can all be proud of as Nigerians. And on my part, you can count on me for support in any value-adding area that will enhance the lot of Nigeria and Nigerians," he submitted.

Also speaking, Dr. Ekeh who thanked the Minister for making out time from his busy schedule for the visit, noting that the Zinox Group remains the single largest 360-degree ICT conglomerate in the sub-region with advanced competencies in the entire spectrum of the sector, ranging from hardware manufacturing, distribution, integrated ICT solutions, telecoms, retail, world class support and much more with offices in many other countries. He pleaded for more support and level playing ground for Nigerian companies.

While presenting the Zinox Legacy - Nigeria's first internationally certified branded laptop - to the Minister, Dr. Ekeh reiterated his commitment and support for the government's drive to create more employment opportunities for millions of Nigerians, while urging the media to partner with the Minister in transforming the country's communications narrative for the benefit of all.

ITRealms recalls that with over a decade of pioneering efforts and excellent service delivery, Zinox prides itself with acclaimed Nigeria's foremost ICT company, in addition to being the nation’s first internationally certified branded laptop manufacturer.
